Hamas raids aid trucks, sells supplies
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1231424932109&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

Hamas on Monday raided some 100 aid trucks that Israel had allowed into Gaza, stole their contents and sold them to the highest bidders. The IDF said that since terminal activity is coordinated with UNRWA and the Red Cross, Israel could do nothing to prevent such raids, Israel Radio reported. .......Meanwhile, Israel is considering establishing a field hospital in the Gaza Strip to treat Palestinian civilians wounded in fighting between the IDF and Hamas.

The plan would be to establish the field hospital outside the Gaza Strip, but the IDF is also considering the possibility of erecting the hospital inside the Palestinian territory so it will be more accessible to the Palestinian population. It would be run by the IDF Medical Corps. .......According to an army estimate on Monday, slightly over 900 Palestinians have been killed since Operation Cast Lead began in December 2008. Based on intelligence and information obtained by the Gaza Coordination and Liaison Administration, the IDF has determined that at least 400 of those killed are known Hamas operatives. The IDF further believes that among the remaining 500, a significant number are also Hamas operatives.

Lovely, just lovely. Don't you just love what Hamas is doing to its fellow Palestinians?

3. Taken with a grain of salt
Sorry, but I'm the kind of person that likes more then one "witness" to an incident.

"terminal activity is coordinated with UNRWA and the Red Cross"

What have the Red Cross and UNRWA said officially??

I'm looking and I haven't found any statements from either the Red Cross or the UN that corroborates what the IDF is reporting!

Can you provide me with more information?

11. For now its I too would call it unsubtantiated, but even the JPost
does not play that fast and loose with facts that can be verified. Their comments about what got said in closed Israeli government meetings is much more suspect.

IIR there was at least one prior report of this behavior. Have to go find them and check the sources

4. Oh come on. Do you think the rest of us are so stupid that we'll believe the propaganda from
the Jerusalem Post? Formerly owned by Conrad Black?

As far as I'm concerned, citing the JPost is akin to citing Fox News. Not acceptable unless other citations from respectable news organisations are given.

8. You're so very welcome! Unless people understand who controls the media, they will
always be susceptable to the propaganda that benefits the Owner Class.

5. I don't trust Israeli leaders any more than our neo-con leaders. I dismiss

everything that comes from them. The Jerusalem Post seems (to me) to lead with the articles - their role is to make Israel is right against Palestinians - always. They also spread propaganda for the U.S. new-con pnacers and barons.

One thing the that sixteen years of heavy duty Dem attacks by the Republicans has taught me - don't believe 95% of what comes out of the corporate-military-industrial-reverend/religious leaders - the media is owned. They do not serve us. Since current Israel leaders are perfect peers to our neo-con leaders - I must learn the truth or variation in other ways.

That's what it has come down to - for me.

I don't disbelieve all Israelis - I do disbelieve the leaders and supporters - very stubborn and repetitive.

The old propaganda doesn't work anymore.

9. So far, 5 responses think it's a lie, none think it's true, none think it's bad
Typically at DU, if an Israeli source says something bad about Hamas, we assume it's false!

13. Its not clear that the Jpost is any worse than Ma'an or Al-J when it comes to verifiable facts
The agenda spin can be parsed from facts from all of them

15. No but there is no corroboration
not from either the UN or the ICRC and well that is what happens when it becomes known that one side of a conflict has a an entire government agency dedicated to selling this war to the international public

Edited on Mon Jan-12-09 10:42 PM by azurnoir
one would think the UN who's aid trucks presumably are the ones being raided would say something oh oh I know maybe they're complicit I mean the UNRWA workers are Palestinian after all its even more odd that ICRC has not spoken out maybe its a conspiracy, say didn't someone run a thread about IDF disgised as Hamas a couple days ago on never mind.......
