The United Nations will resume suspended aid distribution for hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza as soon as possible after receiving credible security assurances from “the very highest levels” in Israel.
The United Nations suspended aid on Friday after a clearly designated UN truck carrying aid was shelled, despite it having received a clearance from the Israeli army. The driver of the truck was killed in the attack while another UN worker was wounded. The incident was one of a number of attacks by the Israeli army involving UN personnel and facilities that have occurred since the current offensive began.
