Two Hamas Leaders Killed
Source: Haber 27

Hamas top leaders Hussam Hamdan and Muhammad Hilo were killed in an Israeli air strike on Khan Yunis Sunday afternoon, The Jerusalem Post reported.

The Islamic movement, however, has made no comments on the report.

Last week Israeli forces attacked the house of another Hamas leader Nizar Rayan, killing him along with eighteen members of his family.

This is while the Arab television networks reported that two Israeli soldiers were captured by Hamas resistance fighters during the ground offensive which was launched as part of "The Operation Cast Lead" against the region late Saturday.

"The Operation Cast Lead" which launched on December 27 has so far claimed over 488 lives including women and children. Another 2,790 people were also wounded.

Media reports say that at least 30 Israeli troops have been wounded during the Saturday night's invasion. While Hamas sources say 13 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the clashes, the Israeli sources put the number at one.

1. Ultimately I think the invasion will fail
as did Vietnam, the Russians in Afghanistan, the US in Iraq, the US in Afghanistan and etc etc. Armies are easily defeated, the populace is not. Ideas are not. Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. You can't invade a country and kill every citizen.

2. I think so, too.
They can kill Hamas, but not the emotion of the people. And, that is not even getting into the exit strategy. From here, things look bleak for the people of Gaza and the Israeli government. Cease-fire and peace talks will be under the umbrella of an occupation, not the best scenario for progress.
