Iranians chant 'death to Israel' in support of Gaza

TEHRAN (AFP) — Thousands of Iranians on Friday chanted "Death to Israel" and "Death to America" as they demonstrated in Tehran against Israel's blockade of the Gaza Strip.

The demonstration took place on streets leading to the Tehran University compound where the weekly Friday prayers is held.

The Jewish state's blockade of Islamist Hamas-ruled Gaza has been tightened since the start of November in retaliation for rocket fire on southern Israel from the coastal strip.

"I am sure victory is close and that the breaking of the Zionist regime's bones can be heard," said Mohammad Hassanian, a student with the Basiji, Iran's volunteer militia.

In Israel you can see and hear those morons chanting "Death to Arabs" after any bombing. In America you can hear them chant "Death to Fags." I think those humans that believe that reason trumps irrational beliefs should make a point of tuning out any group that chant "Death to" anything.

Police faced off against hundreds of Jewish rioters chanting "death to Arabs" and trying to block the city's main thoroughfare. Border Police and officers on horse-back meanwhile tried to prevent the rioters from reaching the city center, where hundreds of Arab rioters had gathered.

Outside the seminary, young Orthodox Jews in traditional black costume chanted periodically "Death to Arabs!"

Police had to escort Abu Ali and her family from their home after Jewish demonstrators chanting "Death to Arabs" lobbed rocks through their windows, she said. She and her husband lived above a Jewish family for 30 years, she said. Although she planned to return, she said she wouldn't see her neighbors in the same light.

For the second time in less than a week, angry Israelis roamed the streets on Sunday night and again this morning, shouting ''Death to Arabs!'' as they looked for Palestinians they could lynch, this time in retaliation for the death of a soldier whose body was found on Sunday with a bullet to the head.
