Joe the Plumber: A vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel
<snip>

"Joe the Plumber," the small business aspirant and overnight media sensation who has endorsed John McCain's presidential campaign, said on Tuesday that he believed a Barack Obama presidency would spell "the death of Israel."

The Ohio plumber, whose real name is Samuel Wurzelbacher, agreed with a Jewish McCain supporter who asked him during an election rally in Ohio if he believed "a vote for Obama is a vote for the death of Israel."

"I'll go ahead and agree with you on that," Wurzelbacher told the man, retired Florida lawyer Stan Chapman who was visiting Ohio."

<snip>

"Shortly after Wurzelbacher's statement was made, the McCain campaign issued a statement saying "while he's clearly his own man, so far Joe has offered some penetrating and clear analysis that cuts to the core of many of the concerns that people have with Barack Obama's statements and policies."

Wurzelbacher was later interviewed live by phone on Fox News, where he said "listen, you don't want my opinion on foreign policy. I know just enough about foreign policy to probably be dangerous."

1. I think Joe would agree with someone who though Obama was going to paint our rectums green.

3. I'm glad the repubs have made him their poster child..
hopefully now it is glaringly obvious how people will vote for a candidate out of complete ignorance and they will not want to be that guy anymore.

4. So Joe the (unlicensed} plumber
says that Obama will "kill" Israel? Is this the republican way of drawing in more Jewish voters? Vote for McCain because it's good for Israel? Doesn't that play into a certain stereotype about where American Jews loyalty lies?

But I will agree with this part "Wurzelbacher was later interviewed live by phone on Fox News, where he said "listen, you don't want my opinion on foreign policy. I know just enough about foreign policy to probably be dangerous."

Guess he can't see Russia from his house.

5. He didn't actually say that
I find the headline misleading. Someone at a rally said that and he said they he would be inclined to agree. But it's not like he made the statement himself.

With his other comment, who knows what his actual foreign policy ideas are. Hopefully, we will never have to find out or think about this person after next week.

6. you are right
he did not state that he was asked if he agreed with statement and said yes he did, the story has been carried by a number of sources now ranging from jpost to kos

I still think it is a rather ham handed attempt to draw the Jewish vote.
