'Breakout into Israel' ahead
A SENIOR Hamas official warned yesterday that the next breakout from the Gaza Strip could be into Israel, with 500,000 Palestinians attempting to march towards the towns and villages from which they or their parents fled or were expelled 60 years ago.

"This is not an imaginary scenario and many Palestinians would be prepared to sacrifice their lives," said Ahmed Youssef, political adviser to Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniya.

Israeli minister Ze'ev Boim said the threat must be taken seriously in light of the successful Hamas breakout into Egyptian territory on Wednesday, adding: "We must learn from what has just happened there."

Egypt moved last night to end the great Gaza breakout, which had reverberated throughout the region as all sides tried to come to grips with its implications.

1. Lives sacrified for nothing. Typical. A paramilitary using civilians
to defy international sanctions.

3. Imagine, Palestinians allowed to roam their own homeland
the audacity of such a thing.

5. Imagine Jews wanting to live in Hebron or East Jerusalem
To say nothing of the now "Jew-free" Gaza strip.

It's not like there are any 2000-year old synagogues there or anything (at least not anymore).

7. I support any solution that would bring freedom and democracy for all

I just don't think that a 'one-state solution' would do so right now.

Some solutions are currently practical; some aren't.

Do you support giving California back to Mexico?

12. Yes, we share a long term dream. A political consolidation
regardless of ethnicity. Respectful of customs w/o imposing legal sanctions based on historical artifacts.

Can I get an amen?

11. I support a two-state solution that will bring freedom and democracy for all
If Jews wish to live in the new Palestinian state I would hope that they would be given the same rights that non-Jews living in Israel currently have.

My solution to this crisis is two states living side-by side at peace with one another.

I take it by your comment that this is not something you support?

13. History does not back up your solution. When Jordan controlled
Jerusalem, Jews did not enjoy privileges Muslims do today. As long as that discrepancy exists, your proposal is doomed.

17. Do you think that Jewish people will be permitted to live in a newly created Palestinian state?
What long-term solution do you support for Israelis and Palestinians?

21. I have met Jews who fled Arab states after '48. What I think is irrelevant
What I learned is that the civil courts must be separate from our Bet Din and their Shariya. That citizen status must not depend on ethinicity and property rights must be respected.

Until that situation changes, I'm afraid the status quo will persist. A two state solution and Palestinians can ally with Jews w/o being called collaborators. Can I get an amen, please?

22. No, of course Jews will not be permitted to live in a new Palestinian state
because Jews aren;t permitted to live anywhere in the entire middle east, except in Israel, protected by high tech weaponry.

If the Arabs had had their way in every war they ever started, there would be no Jews at all in the middle east. Those proponents of a single state solution know that there is no other outcome to a single state than massive bloodshed.

10. You mean Egypt? They grabbed it once as I recall.
And interesting that the Palestinians don't want to stay there any more than we did once. But that's the regime that spawned the Brotherhood and all the carnage since. Still wanta support that side?

14. Oddly enuf, our deity will protect 'em. We don't even butcher animals
w/o dealing w/our guilt first. Funny, but they know that and want to rattle our cage. But it's their cage and if they don't deal w/their own, Egypt and Israel may conduct joint operations. Don't doubt for a second there are negotiations.

20. How crystalized can the situation be? We're not dealing w/
nationalities here. You have Palestinians on the West Bank who are not rising in support of their 'countrymen'.

Racism is a problem for you ... I know who and what I am and have no problem caging uncivilized gunmen who terrorize civilian populations in defiance of international sanctions. We call it prison.

18. Be careful of metaphors. Be very careful.
If it can possibly be twisted into an accusation of racism it will. And the force will not be with you.
