Can anyone here provide me with a link that the Gaza-Egypt wall was constructed
by Israel. I know this was reported at the time, but try as I might I have been unable to uncover a news article on that fact. Searches turn up just a lot of news on the recent events.

The reason I ask is that Mike Malloy wondered on air why Egypt might have built it, and I wanted to set him straight on that assumption.

Thanks for any help you can give me/him, and if, of course, I just hallucinated that memory and the wall was actually built by Egyptians or aliens, please rescue me from that false memory.

1. you have it right...
"Residents of Rafah, a divided town straddling the Egypt-Gaza border, said militants set off explosions that demolished a 200-metre (200-yard) length of the rusting, six-meter (20-foot) high metal border wall put up by Israel in 2004, a year before it pulled its troops and settlers from the territory."

2. It was built by Israel, but there was Egypt cooperation
it is not too hard to wonder why. Egypt is very dependent on US aid.

and not only that, it is not uncommon for their to be barriers on the recognized border of a nations.

Unlike Walls built by occupation armies that run in the middle of the West Bank (that separate Palestinians from their own farmland and cities)

Or the walls that now run through the middle of Baghdad, built by the US occupation forces. that's a whole different ball of wax.

3. Israel also demolished thousands of homes near the border,
including a Nasrallah home. That was the home Rachel Corrie died defending.
