"Israel can attack Iran on its own": Israeli think tank
"Israel can attack Iran on its own": Israeli think tank
www.chinaview.cn 2007-01-03 01:49:52

JERUSALEM, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) --
"An Iranian nuclear bomb is only a matter of time" if no military action is to be taken, Israeli Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) at Tel Aviv University warned in its annual report released to press Tuesday.

The report, Middle East Strategic Balance, also made the conclusion that "Israel can attack Iran on its own".

INSS head Zvi Shtauber said Israel was "technically" capable of striking alone and would have to do it alone if it is to take any action, as no other country would agree to work openly with Israel. Brigadier General Giora Eiland, a member of the institute's board, suggested that Israel must pursue full "strategic and military" understanding with the United States if it decided to attack Iran.

Israel considers Iran its most serious threat. It dismisses Tehran's claims that its nuclear program is designed solely to produce energy and is worried by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's repeated calls to wipe the Jewish state off the map.

2. They are threatening to go it alone so we will get pulled in
This is an accelerating tactic by the fucking Israelis.

I say let the bastards go it alone. Look at what a swell job they did on Hezbollah.

3. this is how we will get into Iran
I just hope that people will know to call "bullshit" when this starts. Remember we'll have a shitload of troops and naval strike forces in the area late this month.

12. fucking israelis? bastards?
Broad brush and disgusting. Try reversing it just to see what you're doing. This is one think tank. You don't think we have think tanks producing just as nutty stuff in this country.

The language you used referring to ALL Israelis- not the government or those running the think tank, says all that I need to know about YOU.

7. Even if Israel does this on its own, the whole world pays. So
be careful of what you ask for.

This will bring massive number of casualties, and increase the likelihood of regional war.

But yes, the Israelis who are advocating attacking Iran (either by the US or on its own) are warmongers, they are pushing for an illegal act of aggression.

If Israel decides to attack Iran, they can do so without any American help, including refueling and flying through US Air Force controlled airspace over occupied Iraq.

No one will believe the US did not help Israel in such an attack. The consequences for American troops in Iraq, and the inevitable Shia response, will be a rather bad thing.

The Left will blame Israel for any American casualties in Iraq resulting from an Israeli attack on Iran, and forever break the hypnotic trance in which Americans have been in regards to Israel.

9. Who does The Left blame
for the 3,000 American casualties that did not result from an Israeli attack on Iran?

11. Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, Feith, and the rest of the neocons, plus
AIPAC and other groups like it that helped sell the war by frightening the American Jewish community with the atomic bogeyman (as they are doing now with Iran). Israeli politicians like Bibi Netanyahu who spoke in favor of the war. The DLC which lobbied hard for a prowar vote in order to remove Iraq as an issue in the November 2002 elections. The members of Congress from both parties that voted for the war, ignoring their own constituents that wrote and call them begging them to vote against the war resolution. The American press which either buried or failed to report news that contradicted Bush's claims of WMD. The cable news networks for acting as extensions of the White House war propaganda machine. The Christian Right for telling their flocks that to support Jesus one must support the war.

10. I don't think any good can come of it... it will result in much more violence than
an escalation against US troops in Iraq. (I don't think there can be an escalation against US troops in Iraq... the resistance is not holding back much)

It will be a disaster exponentially worse than the Bushboy attack on Iraq. It will be felt for years or more likely decades to come.

I believe that we can prevent any attack on Iran, through people power. Israel cannot do it without US acquiescence, at the very least, if that is not forthcoming, then it won't happen.

We must stop any military aggression against Iran, by the US or Israel.
