The Egyptian demand came in a "strongly worded letter" from Egypt's powerful intelligence chief Omar Suleiman to the Syrian-based Hamas leader Khaled Meshal, the officials said Tuesday. They spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the letter.
