Former (Israel) security chief urges Iran action ("military option")
Former security chief urges Iran action

From correspondents in Jerusalem

September 02, 2006 04:43am
Article from: Agence France-Presse

ISRAEL should consider a military option to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, the former head of the Mossad intelligence service said overnight.

"Israel should prepare itself for the worst of possibilities, even for a military option," Shavtain Shavit said on public television, pointing out that efforts by world powers to get Iran to stop enriching uranium have not succeeded.

He said Iran has a "regime of fanatics who see it as their duty to exterminate infidels and make the world a Muslim world. The day that they have an atomic weapon and their finger on the trigger, the world will be completely different."

Israel, along with the United States and other Western powers, accuses Iran of using its civil atomic energy program as a cover for developing the bomb, a charge Tehran roundly denies. Israel is widely believed to be the only country in the Middle East to have nuclear weapons, although it has never confirmed or denied it holds such an arsenal.

1. Iran has no history of occupying its neighbors or bombing them unprovoked
as Israel did to Iraq. Why should another country fight this war when Israel is armed to the teeth and has nukes and has the history of attacking and occupying other countries in the ME?

2. Iraq is a neighbor of Iran. If Iran has no history of occupying its
neighbors or bombing them unprovoked, then should we conclude that Iraq was to blame for the Iran-Iraq war of 1980 to 1988?

4. Uh, yes?
Are you disputing the standard history of this war? It is generally accepted that Iraq was the belligerent party. In fact it is generally acknowledged that we encouraged Iraq to go invade Iran, a nation we did not exactly hide our animosity towards.

So was that a trick question of yours or what?

9. Persia never occupied its neighbors? It was an empire once
And the people of the middle east have long memories. Jews still celebrate Purim - you think Iranians have forgotten?

5. Back in the 60's , some in the USA thought we should destroy China...
before they destroyed us. Israel needs to deal with what we have had to deal with for 60 years--mutual assured destruction.

6. The day the USA had their finger on the nuclear trigger - THEY USED IT!!
.
.
.

No other country in the world with nukes, including them "bad" guys Russia and China has used nukes on another nation.

Other nations see owning nukes as a deterrent,

The USA sees owning nukes as unlimited power and will use them on civilian populations just to scare the shit out of people.

Neither Hiroshima or Nagasaki were military targets . .

Matter of fact, if one wants to check it out, despite all the bombing sorties that went over Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they never dropped so much as a piece of toilet paper on them -

They PLANNED to use the atom bomb on those cites, and did not want to attract the Japanese military to defend them, cuz the nuke had to be tested on a large population(in the eyes of the PNACers)

The US knew that they were major populated areas where they could murder 10's of thousands with one bomb.

If not stopped, the USA will do it again.

Iran will NOT attack Israel, they know that Israel has over 200 nukes - and can get more from the USA just for the asking . . .

IF - and that's if, Iran gets a nuke or two, it will be for protection, not to attack anyone - -

This I believe . .

7. What a Moran.
Chicken Little. Replace Iran with the Soviet Union and Islam with Communism and you have a familiar old line of scare-mongering.

8. Is this the propaganda I hear about?
The title of the article and what was actually said don't match.
