Conservatives Confused by Current U.S. Policy on Israel
..But the White House, which is closely monitoring the construction of the partially completed barrier, considers it a problem -- and has announced that $9 billion in loan guarantees may be in jeopardy if Israel continues building that fence and establishing settlements in the West Bank.

Such U.S. policies -- as well as American calls for Israel to restrain itself against those attacking its citizens -- are confusing to many supporters of the Jewish state. Pro-family activist Gary Bauer is among those. "I'm mystified by the Administration's policy at this point," Bauer admits. "Secretary of State Colin Powell once again lectured Israel, telling not to go after the Hamas leaders without thinking about the consequences."..

Bauer says the White House's advice to Israel is not consistent with the way in which the U.S. has chosen to deal with terrorists. WorldNetDaily's Joseph Farah sees the same contradiction and says the Bush Administration needs to be more supportive of Israel and allow its Middle East ally to fight terrorism the same way the U.S. has chosen to fight terrorism...

"We should be soliciting Israel's support as a strong ally in the war on terrorism, and stop negotiating with , exile him, or eliminate him by killing him," Farah says....
