BEIRUT: Syria's foreign minister said Sunday his country was ready for regional war and will respond "immediately" to any Israeli attack, as he offered to join Hizbullah's ranks. "We will respond to any Israeli aggression immediately," Walid Moallem said on arrival in Lebanon ahead of a Monday-meeting for Arab foreign ministers to discuss Israel's devastating 26-day-old offensive against its northern neighbor.
"If you wish, I'm ready to be a soldier at the disposal of
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah," he added.
The Syrian foreign minister drove through a Northern Lebanese border point and met with his Lebanese counterpart, Fawzi Salloukh, in the port city of Tripoli.

This came as Arab League chief Amr Moussa landed in Beirut, telling reporters at the airport that he came to consult with the Lebanese government on "ways to stop the Israeli aggression on Lebanon."
