If that had been true (and, for all I know, it might have been...as recently as a month ago), wouldn't it argue for "surgical strikes" against Hezbollah while making sure that the remainder of Lebanon that "want(s) to see Hezbollah defeated and humiliated" went untouched, rather than a military action that started off by wiping out key elements of the Lebanese infrastructure and indiscriminately bombing civilian targets, and only then going after Hezbollah itself? Raining destruction upon your putative, if tacet, allies in opposition to Hezbollah only assures that, once the dust settles, they won't be your allies, and they won't be in opposition to Hezbollah. :crazy:
