1. looks legit to me
25 Palestinians can be killed by Israel and no news here but
1 Israeli killed by militant and it is national news here.

There will never be true peace until the Palestinians have a true
and free homeland ..... not little plots under Israeli control.

BTW I support the right for Israel to exist too.

I also expect this thread to be locked ASAP

5. They don't have to do that. They use their military to attack
the Palestinians.

10. Why is it terrorism when Palestine suicide bombers operate
and not terrorism when the Israeli Government sanction bombing raids on Palestinians. The score so far - over 350 innocent Lebanese killed. 29 Israelis.

Bin Laden must be exhausted with all the new recruits he's getting

13. Because it's those who have the power that get to define the word
"terrorism." I agree, this is fuel for the fire.

11. But let's not forget Baruch Goldstein,
who killed 29 Palestinians and wounded 125 in Hebron.

His tombstone reads, "Here lies the saint, Dr. Baruch Kappel Goldstein, blessed be the memory of the righteous and holy man, may the Lord avenge his blood, who devoted his soul to the Jews, Jewish religion and Jewish land. His hands are innocent and his heart is pure. He was killed as a martyr of God on the 14th of Adar, Purim, in the year 5754 (1994)."

Banks of lights, a sink, a cupboard with prayer books, pedestals for candles have been added to accommodate pilgrims to the grave.

8.  list of groups advocating peace, justice, understanding
http://www.ifamericansknew.org/cur_sit/groups.html I think this is worthwhile.
I think we have to understand the reality of waht happens to Palestinian people. the problems are complex and I do beleive their injuries and deaths being under reported.
I have also found sites that have used legitamite issues and real heartbreaking pictures to advocate for hate against Jewish people- so you do have to be careful.
I think now how many of US hate many things that our government is doing (the current adminstration in paticular), but still love our country, realize that the same thing is true of Isreal, being against unfair policies does NOT make one anti- Isreal, and definately not anti-semetic.

What is happening In Lebanon is insane, of course.

This is a legitimate question - not trying to be snarky - looking to be enlightened.

21. You didn't need to edit..didn't sound snarky at all. :)
There have been a few problems with some of the articles produced from that site. I have been trying to find my file on them, but I am having a problem locating it. I may have to get back to you. However, you may want to ask Lithos (moderator), I think he has some info on them and their creator Alison Weir. It is not an anti-Semitic site, but is a virulently anti-Israeli site. It also promotes some 'wacky' anti-Israeli theories. There are also accounts of them playing fast and loose with numbers and facts.

If I find the info I will either post here or PM you, depending how long it takes to find it.

Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 10:55 PM by jarnocan
I'm telling you this right now. On Monday, at 2 PM, you better not be in your office. Because me and my buddies, who were trained in the Israeli Army, will come and kill every single one of you son-of -a-bitches for what you are doing to destroy Israel.
Alison Weir is executive director of If Americans Knew, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing full and accurate information about Israel and Palestine. The organization was founded following her trip to the Palestinian territories as a freelance journalist in the winter of 2001.
http://www.counterpunch.org/weir10182003.html

http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article12774.htm an article by her in another source.
The Coverage--and Non-Coverage--of Israel-Palestine
http://www.ameu.org/page.asp?iid=262&aid=530&pg=1 her full article interesting

there is a British author by te same name BTW.
Also on Wikipedia the websites that dispute her information both seem far-right one is Front page and the other never really indicates 'who' they are.
I would say read the information, think about it and do some research.
This rings very true to me.
It is for this reason that so many of us have found it difficult to examine closely the situation in Israel and Palestine. We are crippled by the very decency that would normally require us to speak out.

For many of us, if we are Jewish, the very act of questioning Israel’s actions in Palestine arouses deep and immobilizing feelings of disloyalty – to our families, to our parents and their principles, to relatives who may have died in death camps.

If we are not Jewish, questioning Israel’s actions arouses unexamined feelings of disloyalty to values by which we have determined to live our lives. Anti-Semitism is abhorrent to us. Acting in a way that even hints at this feels contaminating, morally and emotionally obscene. Acting in a way that even suggests disloyalty to Jewish friends feels unthinkable.

And so we all avoid the subject.

22. alternative factual sites? also Fair.org ?
Edited on Wed Jul-19-06 11:26 PM by jarnocan
that honestly address the problems. You aren't denying that some of her concerns are legit are you?

http://www.fair.org/index.php is this considered a trustworthy site? (they are to me- I liked Outfoxed etc.) And is this article by
Seth Ackerman
From Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting’s Extra! July/August 2002 accurate?
"The Myth of the Generous Offer"

I really don't know. So much tragedy and unfair things do happen in the world. It is hard to know really. The Rachel Corrie tragedy, I've read about of course.

some of these seem worthwhile;
Multimedia
Video – Interview with Karen Kwiatkowski (concerning the war in Iraq)

Video – The Middle East in Election 2004: The Capitol Hill Hearings

Video Documentary – Dead in the Water

26. Locking
Website whose use of inflammatory language, broad-brushed statements, and purposeful mischaracterizations and omissions especially when dealing with subjects like religion, bigotry and the holocaust make this site unreliably biased.

Please do not use or cite.
