IPI Condemns Shooting of Two Palestinian Photographers {edit}
IPI Condemns Shooting of Two Palestinian Photographers in Two Days

The International Press Institute (IPI), the global network of editors, media executives and leading journalists, strongly condemns the shooting of two Palestinian photographers by Israeli forces in Gaza.

According to information provided to IPI, Hamdi Al Khur, a photographer with the Turkish-based Ihlas News Agency was shot twice by Israeli snipers on 7 July while filming clashes between Palestinian militants and Israeli troops in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahiya.

The first shot, aimed at the chest did not cause serious injury as Al Khur was protected by the flak jacket he was wearing. The second shot hit his right arm. Doctors at the Kamal Edwin hospital, where Al Khur was treated after the shooting, were unable to remove all the shrapnel from his arm and called for an emergency evacuation on 8 July to a Jerusalem hospital. Al Khur continues to receive treatment there and it is not yet known when he will be able to return home.

Mohammad Az Zanoun, a photographer with the Palestinian online news agency Ma’an, was covering events in his home district of Zaitoun, east of Gaza City, when Israeli tanks entered the area on the morning of 8 July.

Zanoun was fired upon while photographing two Palestinian militants who had been killed in the incursion. The first bullets, fired from an Israeli tank, ricocheted off a brick wall next to where Zanoun was standing. He was hit in the face by shrapnel and debris, the force of which fractured his skull and caused serious damage to his right eye and ear.

When Zanoun attempted to continue photographing, he was shot in the leg and stomach by an Israeli sniper.

4. add this to the story of new weapons being used in Gaza
which don't show up in X-rays.

Something significant is happening in Gaza -- and all we can do is to read the reports of journalists who are brave enough to report what is happening.

Innocent people are dying -- the US Government or the EU should be stopping Israel.

At this point in time I feel so helpless -- I knew when Iraq was invaded that many innocent people would die and that it would turn out horrible wrong. That wasn't hard to predict -- we were correct.

No we see the invasion of Gaza . . . collective punishment -- people dying. The excuse we heard for this military action no longer seems credible.

In normal times -- if the US had a human being living in the white house what is happening in Gaza would have been stopped days ago. But humans no longer inhabit the leadership -- sub-human life forms now inhabit the GOPigs -- the neocons.

OK -- it's late (or very early in the morning) and I watch a lot of Sci-Fi. But damn the bush gang seems to be from an alien race -- it's like watching the worst b grade Sci-Fi film. And the damned film never ends . . . it just keeps going on and on and on.

A few of us know what is happening --- but too many people really believe the aliens are real -- or they are drugged. Like I said it's late.

5. Whoa
Take a look at the language you're using. Referring to people, even people you despise, as subhuman is not good for your mental health, even if it is late, and you have been watching scifi.

7. i cant help but find these post absurd.....
first we have new weapons that "dont show up on x-rays"....and now we have journalists wounded while moving around a combat zone where real bullets and tank shells are being fired...and obviously the IDF spotted those reporters probably identified the shoulded carried camera (similar to RPGs) and tried to kill them, all the while ignoring the palestenians who were actually firing at them.

yes..israeli soldiers will risk their lives to kill journalists as opposed to others who are shooting at them......but hey we're subhumans...
