Hamas-Fatah to Implicitly Recognize Israel

The rival Hamas and Fatah movements agreed on a plan implicitly recognizing Israel, a top Palestinian official said Tuesday after weeks of acrimonious negotiations aiming to lift crippling international aid sanctions.

1. How do you suppose they will "implicitly" recognize israel
without explicitly recognizing it?

3. Explicit recognition implies Actual recognition
Because it's just another ruse for the Western Media to glom onto.

4. I don't get it.
Maybe I'm just too logical.

The plan also calls on militants to limit attacks to areas captured by Israel in the 1967 Mideast War and calls for formation of a coalition Palestinian government.

....

"All political groups are prepared for a mutual cease-fire with Israel," he said

Where is the "cease-fire" if the groups still attack Israel anywhere???

5. Same old song
As usual a "cease-fire" with Israel means that the Israelis aren't permitted to shoot back.

6. Ding-ding-ding...We have a winner!
You got it right! Well, almost...it 'means' that Hamas can "implicitly" accept or even encourage terrorist attacks, but Israel cannot respond.

13. Yes, more BS
and talking between the lines doesn't add up to recognition by Hamas of the right of Israel to exist

7. Thanks for your response.
I knew that, of course. I just don't understand why so many people, especially people on DU, don't get it, too. Liberals ought to have more sense. :)

12.  Ceasefires are also for gathering more arms for the next attacks

11.  But you do get it. You recognize it as hogwash, which is what it is
It's also doubletalk. They either recognize Israel's right to exist or they don't.

10. Quite clearly this is NO recognition of Israel's right to exist

"snip
A Hamas MP denied that this implied the group now recognised Israel as one half of a two-state solution. "We said we accept a state in 1967 - but we did not say we accept two states," Salah al-Bardaweel told Reuters.

A Hamas spokesman said the document - the subject of weeks of negotiations - included a "clear clause" referring to the group's non-recognition of Israel.

14. An implicit recognition is a thoroughly deniable recognition.
If I "implicitly recognize" that you're in the room and never bother to make it explicit by saying hello, I can always claim I didn't know you were there.

It may be silly to deny it after a while, but such is life. Silly.

Estoppal does not apply in this situation.
