U.K., UN, Russia rap Israel over civilian deaths in territories
<snip>

"The recent spate of Israeli targeted killings which have gone awry and claimed the lives of Palestinian non-combatants in the territories prompted international reaction warning Jerusalem on Wednesday.

The British foreign secretary released a statement condemning Tuesday's Israel Defense Forces errant airstrike in the northern Gaza refugee camp of Jabalya which killed two Palestinian children and a Palestinian teenager.

"The killing of innocent civilians, and particularly children, is completely unacceptable," said Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett. "The continuing violence on both sides, and the tragic death of a number of children and civilians in Gaza and West Bank in recent weeks, is making the prospect of a negotiated, peaceful resolution more distant."

"We strongly urge maximum restraint by the Israeli military to avoid further escalation of an already very tense situation," Beckett said. "We call on the Israeli authorities to respect their obligations under international law and ensure that civilians, particularly children, are not harmed. In addition we call for an immediate halt to all rocket fire from the Gaza Strip on Israeli targets."

A senior UN official renewed a plea to Israel on Wednesday to cease targeted assassinations."

1. I doubt Israel will stop unless Islamic Jihad stops rocketing settlements
Until then, "an eye for an eye makes the world blind" will reign as the order of the day.

8. Well - Hamas (or whomever) could have made this a peace issue.
And moved on politically from there. Whoever is doing the violence in Palestiine.. killed two school girls on a bus the next week.
