Hundreds of settler youths erect 14 illegal outposts in West Bank
<snip>

"Hundreds of settler youths erected 14 illegal outposts in the West Bank on Tuesday in a campaign to show their strength after Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, a spokeswoman said.

Datya Yitzhaki, a spokeswoman for the settler group the Land of Israel Faithful, said that a total of 25 new outposts, all of which would eventually become permanent communities, would be standing by the end of Hanukkah.

Yitzhaki, a former Gaza settler who helped erect the Maoz Yam outpost in Gush Katif, added that hundreds of youths had begun building wooden and stone houses and pitched tents at sites close to a dozen older settlements."

"Israel Defense Forces sources dismissed the developments in the West Bank, saying the youths were merely enjoying "a holiday resort of children that will disperse itself," and that the military does not currenly have plans to evacuate the outposts."

October 26, 2005: Six people were killed and 55 wounded in a suicide bombing in an outdoor market in the town of Hadera. Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack.

October 16, 2005: Palestinian gunmen killed three Israelis and wounded as least 5 others in two separate drive-by shootings in the West Bank. The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades claimed responsibility for both attacks.

:eyes:

Could this be an example of someone conflating Israel with Jews? :shrug:

3. A deliberate attempt to inflame passions?
Nabil Abu Rdainah, a spokesman for Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, said, "Settlement activities severely hurt Palestinian efforts to maintain calm." He urged Israel "to cease these activities and uproot the outposts."

4. Israel dismantles 3 W.Bank settler outposts - army
<snip>

"Israeli forces on Friday dismantled three West Bank outposts that had been erected by Jewish settlers in a show of strength ahead of elections that could swing on the growing debate over the occupied territory.

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has vowed to keep major West Bank settlements, but has said some isolated communities may one day be removed. Israel is required to dismantle all unauthorised outposts under a U.S.-led plan for peace with the Palestinians.

An army spokeswoman said troops and police removed two makeshift outposts near the Palestinian-ruled city of Ramallah and another outside the settlement of Beit El before dawn.

"The Israeli Defence Forces will continue to act to enforce law and order in the West Bank," she said.

There was no word on when Israel might move against other outposts erected without government permits this week by a Jewish ultranationalist group, the Land of Israel Faithful."

'Gaza evictees settle in West Bank

BBC, in Efrat settlement

The unopened boxes, scattered belongings and household bric-a-brac did not seem to bother Datya Yitzhaki as she made her way out to her patio. She has seen it all before.

"We lived in caravans for 13 years," she said, recalling her time as a pioneer of Jewish settlement in the Israeli-occupied Gaza Strip.

In 1984, Mrs Yitzhaki was among the first of four families to move to Kfar Yam - one of an eventual 21 Jewish settlements in the territory, which is home to 1.5m Palestinians.
