Saudi envoy: Arabs 'made peace' with establishment of Israel
Saudi Arabia's new ambassador to the United States on Thursday denigrated in an interview with the Washington Post the Iranian president's description of the Holocaust as a myth, saying the "horrific genocide" is a "historical fact" no longer in dispute, adding that the Arab world has "made our peace" with the Jewish state's establishment.

In the interview, Prince Turki al-Faisal said "As far as Saudi Arabia is concerned, a historical fact, you cannot deny that, and people should move forward from that."

Turki noted that in 2002, the Arab League adopted a Saudi plan that would result in the creation of Palestine and an acceptance of Israel.

"It is a done deal for us," he said. "We are not going to go back on that."

3. Wow. I am very pleased. First an extraordinary meeting
in Saudi Arabia, discussing reform within the Islamic world, and now this. The Saudi position isn't ideal vis a vis Israel, but it's a good start and also, I think, a voice from the reality-based world in regard to the recent comments from the President of Iran.

I hope I live to see true peace and understanding in these sacred lands. This is a good thing. But, I'm getting old already so let's have some MORE good news:)

4. Economic and Geological Realities Trump Religious Passions

Read, compare, contrast, synthesize ---

    * maybe economic and geological realities are finally trumping ethnic - racial -religious passions.

    * maybe Menocal was describing a "Golden Age" - the essence of which was a gift from God - Yahweh - Allah - Elohanu - Vishnu - Krishna - Budda and humankind can still recapture it. (Maybe a diety is giving humankind a second chance)

    * or, just maybe, the true cost of subsidizing Wahabi Madrassahs and mixed educational-welfare-terror organizations is getting too high.
