Poll: 39.5% to Vote for Fateh, 19.9% for Hamas
NABLUS, November 20, 2005, (WAFA)- A center at An-Najah University said on Sunday that 39.5% will vote for Fateh block in the coming Legislative Council elections, while 19.9% will vote for Hamas block.

In the Fifteenth Palestinian Public Opinion Poll conducted by the Centre for Opinion Polls and Survey Studies at An-Najah National University during the period from November 16 to 18, 2005, the center revealed that 66.8% from among respondents believe that the second legislative elections will be conducted on its specified date.

According to the poll, 53.% from among respondents assert that the legislative elections will be democratic and fair, adding that 75.5% from among respondents will participate in the coming legislative elections and 24.5% will not.

The poll also pointed out that if the choice before voters in the coming legislative elections is limited to a choice between two blocks, one representing the PLO and another representing Hamas, 55.8% from among respondents will vote for the PLO block and 29.1% will vote for the Hamas block.

1. Just an interesting fact.
The two top Palestinians murdered in Jordan's bombings were both members of Fateh (I thought it was Fawtah).

2. It is Fatah
Though the consonents are a bit more important than the vowels in the transliteration to English. Fatah means something like victory. I think the name also means something in reverse (Hataf = death?), I don't recall exactly off-hand. There is also supposed to be another acrostic dealing with it meaning the Palestinian Liberation Front. Lots of meaning and double entendre.
