I am an American Red Cross Volunteer (Mass Sheltering, and Disaster Assistance, and Refugee Relocation/Housing), and a Veteran of the United States Coast Guard (Captain of the Port Office, Port of New Orleans, LA), and I was raised in a faith based family where I was taught that Tsdakah is a Mitzvah.

And I was socialized to the United States Coast Guard norm - "They pay you to go out --- not to come back empty handed -- read your enlistment contract."

I was also taught by my parents (my Father of Blessed Memory) and my grandparents (of Blessed Memory) that Tsdakah is a characteristic of Good Democrats.

During this Penitential Season, I do not understand your append. Maybe you can convince me.
