15-year-old injured during store shooting

A 15-year-old San Jose boy was shot at a Hollywood Video store, police said Saturday.

The boy, whose name was withheld because of his age, was walking near the video store at Capitol Expressway and Silver Creek Road about 10:50 p.m. Friday when a silver Toyota drove up and someone from inside opened fire, police said.

2. One of the responsibilities of being able to respond with deadly force....
My first thought was that the robbers should be held solely responsible for any unintended consequences of their crime. However, if one fires a weapon in self defense, he had better be damned sure he knows where his rounds are going. While the shop owner has the right to protect himself, he has the responsiblity to know his surroundings.
