2. Does this sound familiar?
State Duma plans to adopt certain amendments by the end of this month, aimed at restricting the overall turnover of firearms and explosives in the country. The amendment however will apply only to Russian special services. At the same time, many delegates express their affirmative views to make the firearms market more liberal. According to them, if the state is unable to protect its citizens, let them have the right protect themselves, writes "Izvestia".

"It appears that the Russian peoples have nothing else to do but to act as mere sacrificial lambs. Rebels do not take militia hostage; they prefer to torture defenseless people. And the government is incapable of protecting us," states Yuri Dotsenko in his letter from Sochi. "I am not saying that each of us needs a personal bodyguard. There is another issue at stake here. There is simply the lack of a governmental system aimed at protecting its people. In my opinion, there is only one way out of this mess: the state has to make guns legal. Let people protect themselves and their kids. Those rebels would not have seized the school had they known that every parent had had a gun."

Sounds as though they're learning what the RKBA'ers in this country already know. Good for them. I hope they get the freedom to defend themselves.

3. It honestly makes me feel sick
the thought of not being able to own guns to protect my family. Im not saying it would have made any difference in this school incident but, the thought of criminals running loose with whatever weapons they choose while I am stuck defenseless, is very disturbing.

4. Same for me.
As we've tried to convince others of this in this forum, criminals don't care if their weapons are legal or not.

5. I should clarify
it doesnt make me sick for "me", it makes me sick for my family. The thought that their protector would be hamstrung because of a law is unacceptable. I guess I wouldnt live that way, I couldnt. I would hate to live in fear of guns or criminals and I choose not to, regardless of the law.

Thankfully I dont have to become a criminal to protect my family, yet. I hope we can uphold our rights and create effective crime control measures at the same time.

7. I am happy for the Russians.

I am happy they (Russians) are taking steps to possibly avert another situation like the one that just occurred. I can only hope that their government does everything in their power to make the purchasing of weapons by law-abiding citizens as quick and easy as possible.

13. I do indeed...
......if you lived in Northern VA I would invite to the range so you could try several different firearms. I think you would enjoy it, most people who have never had the chance to use firearms in a sporting or leisure capacity usually have a very good time. :)

I get to Winchester every year or so. Aunts, uncles, and cousins there. If only I didn't have to listen to the great aunts talk incessantly about going to school with Patsy Cline.
