Full Auto Fun!!!
Some days are just better than others....

Short backstory: My boss and I deer hunt together, but we've never just been out shooting. A friend of his is a Mason, and I guess a couple of Lodges get together a couple times a year for a shoot. Everybody gets to try new toys. Anyway he got invited, and got me invited too...

------

Great time. The only guns I get to shoot usually are the ones that I own, so I got to try a bunch of new things. Some .357 revolvers, a .45 Taurus (worst trigger I've ever shot), a .22 match pistol with a red dot sight...

and then the crown of the evening...

A Steyr-Aug machine gun! I've wanted to do this for a long time. The only bitch was, it was set up right handed and I'm a lefty. The owner was a really nice guy, and he would have reset it up for left hand shooting if I asked, but I didn't want to slow everything up for everyone. So, it was REALLY tough to control, even more so than it would have been shooting normally. Trigger like a brick. And REALLY hard to keep the muzzle from climbing.

That was about the most fun I've ever had with my pants on! Woo-hoo! I gotta get me wunna these!!!

11. Which begs the question...
what was the most fun you ever had... pants on or off?

Being judgmental of other peoples interests (or idea of fun), is plain simple minded ignorance.

12. "plain simple minded ignorance"

Kinda like the kind that prompts people to ... misunderstand ... what other people say?

3. J&G sales in Prescott AZ has a AUG for sale for $12K.
and yes guns are a lot of fun when used in a safe environment. when used improperly they can be deadly and the idiots doing so deserve to have their right to use them revoked. but leave us responsible owners alone.

5. Upstairs
from the range in the gun shop they've got a Barrett for $7300. It was the first time I'd seen one, and was surprised at the size. For some reason I expected it to be much bigger.

6. Nah...
It doesn't take but a few shots to realize (if one didn't realize it already) that it would absolutely futile to attempt to use a weapon like this in that manner.

I'd always pretty much figured the "spray firing bullet hoses from the hip" bullshit was exactly that - bullshit. It didn't take 30 seconds with a machine gun in my hands to convince me I was right.

7. VPC and Brady refer to semi-autos as "bullet hoses"
on a regular basis. Funny though, I've never heard of a hose where you have to turn the spigot once per drop.
