Heavy handed city cops add to budget deficits
http://www.clevescene.com/scene-and-heard/archives/2011/08/30/cops-confiscate-lakewood-ladys-arsenal-motive-pending

Let's see now.... police hear that a lady has firearms, enter her home without a warrant, confiscate 13 guns, find out that she owns them all legally... and refuse to return them unless she gets a court order. So she files suit....

Why can't they learn that in a situation like this, give them back immediately and hope things quiet down? Why do they always want to dig in their heels until some judge makes them follow the law and the Constitution?

Simple, they are playing with the taxpayers' money. The city will spend whatever it takes to drag out their ultimate defeat in the hopes they will bleed dry the citizen they have wronged. If they fail, well, it's not coming out of the Police Chief's or Mayor's pocket.

from the article:

No apparent probable cause
No apparent warrant
4th amendment? pffft....who needs the 4th amendment?

let's see how far up the judicial stack this will have to go before the state loses, and whether the state will have to pony up for Ms. Rice's legal fees.

according the Court, the replevin hearing is scheduled for 9/7
here is a copy of the summons and complaint:

3. A while back I had a conversation with a very annoyed police sargent
I pointed out to him that if he persisted, it would cost his department dearly. His reply was that he did not care, it was not his money. In the end he backed down when other officers confirmed what I was saying. (Google maps and Android saved his ass)

I sent the recording of the event to his Chief and the City Council of the small CA municipality he works for.

4. We call that being "Chicagoed"
Piss away all that tax money, then complain that you need more property taxes "for the schools and firemen" ... and to indulge their pig headed approach to not obeying the laws they don't like.

See Daley and Fenty for examples.

6. Pretty typical of TPB thinking....they only see us as tax dollars, subjects not citizens.
