SEATTLE, June 23 (UPI) -- Two men were arrested after allegedly buying machine guns to shoot up a military recruit processing center in Seattle, federal prosecutors said Thursday.

Abu Khalid Abdul-Latif, 33, of Seattle and Walli Mujahidh, 32, of Los Angeles were taken into custody Wednesday night by a terrorism task force after allegedly taking possession of the weapons.

Seattle U.S. Attorney Jenny Durkan said in a written statement that the pair had allegedly discussed attacking the Military Entrance Processing Station in Seattle with guns and hand grenades. The facilities are used for the initial processing of recruits from all branches of the military.

The alleged plot was uncovered because a tip from a member of the public who told police the pair had inquired about obtaining the guns from the individual. The tipster, who was not identified, agreed to work with the joint police-FBI task force.

2. Sounds like an alert and public-minded firearms dealer (or owner) may
have saved some lives here. (Assuming the story is as reported, of course.) Hope he gets his guns back, and in working order! :)

5. Yeah, he seems to have completely missed his track.
So much for jpak's narrative that gun owners are all mindless psychos ready and waiting for the chance to sell weapons to criminals.

8. Delusional horseshit - one of the would-be terrorists chickened out and turned informant
They would have bought the weapons from "law abiding" sources - just like Nidal Hassan.

The NRA loves them some AQ terrorism

yup

9. where did you get that?
Some one comes up to me wanting something like that, is going to get the same set up.

Wait, are you saying that Palin had to wear an abia while giving her speech?
Yesterday the NRA were right wing Christians, now they are right wing Muslims? Let me know when they become Shinto.

12. Do you even read the articles you link to?
The tip-off came from a third party whom they had approached in an attempt to purchase weapons. One of the plotters is cooperating now, after the arrest: major ass-saving attempt.

Yup. Yup.

4. I know, the jpak google-dump is fresh and interesting today! And did you catch the fancy
new jargon in the Bulger thread: "NRA Amerika"?
It's like when a beloved TV character develops unexpected depth halfway through the season - I can't wait to see where we're going...

6. I wonder if he has been reading the Kafka novel by that name or
trying to associate us with amerika.org If the latter, my libel trial lawyers are on speed dial.

7. And your point is?
OH, that's right, you don't have one.

Terrorists caught wanting to do terrorist things, I guess the LEOs got it right.

11. And of course machineguns and grenades are as restricted as bombs and howitzers...
but you knew that.

You do also know what a "sting" is, right?
