Mexican government holds an US FFL??????
This is hard hitting. The vast majority of gun seized in Mexico are not traced, of those that are traced the vast majority do not trace to American FFLs, of those that do trace to folks with an American FFL... the majority trace to the Mexican government, which apparently holds an FFL.

1. This information does not validate my viewpoint so I choose to ignore it!
I believe that most guns in Mexico are bought at US gun shows over the counter due to lax US gun laws and none of these silly "facts" are going to change my mind. It's more important that I endorse a position based on what I feel to be true rather then the actual truth.

2. This scandal is going to fuck up the anti-gun contingent in US politics.
Edited on Wed Jun-22-11 08:48 AM by aikoaiko

And the best part is that they did it too themselves. The NRA couldn't have planned it out better.

7. Nope - it will backfire on the GOP/NRA
This "scandal" clearly indicates that the Mexicartels buy large quantities of guns from US gun shows/shops.

These guns kill Mexicans

The GOP will have to explain to the American people why it is protecting the REAL gun runners.

GOP/NRA propaganda/lies will be debunked

They will lose

yup!

15. Choices, choices...
Blindness is the condition of lacking visual perception due to physiological or neurological factors.

This would be irrelevant since means exist for the visually impaired to use a pc, read...

Idiot: A dunce is an idiot who is specifically incapable of learning. An idiot differs from a fool (who is unwise) and an ignoramus (who is uneducated/an ignorant), neither of which refer to someone with low intelligence.

Hmmm, tempting....

Ignorance is a state of being uninformed.

Clearly not the case.

Stupid: James F. Wells, Ph. D., in his book, "Understanding Stupidity," defines stupidity thusly, "The term may be used to designate a mentality which is considered to be informed, deliberate and maladaptive.

In conclusion, I have to choose "stupid" due, in no small measure, to the union between the concepts of deliberate and maladaptive.

I heartily thank rl6214 for this opportunity at personality characterization and vocabulary expansion. ;)

12. You must...
...IRL be John Cleese. No one does a better Black Knight!

(they fight until Arthur cuts off Black Knight's left arm)
King Arthur: Now, stand aside, worthy adversary!
Black Knight: 'Tis but a scratch!
King Arthur: A scratch? Your arm's off!
Black Knight: No, it isn't!
King Arthur: Well, what's that then?
Black Knight: I've had worse.
King Arthur: You liar!
Black Knight: Come on, you pansy!
(they fight again. Arthur cuts off the Knight's right arm)
King Arthur: Victory is mine!
(kneels to pray)
King Arthur: We thank thee, Lord, that in thy mercy -
(cut off by the Knight kicking him)
Black Knight: Come on, then.
King Arthur: What?
Black Knight: Have at you!
King Arthur: You are indeed brave, Sir Knight, but the fight is mine!
Black Knight: Oh, had enough, eh?
King Arthur: Look, you stupid bastard. You've got no arms left!

13. This scandal...
...clearly indicates the lengths that anti-gunners will go to use half-truths and outright lies to push their agenda. They hope that by using numbers taken out of context from the ATF, they can somehow legitimize their own propaganda. Seeing as they are increasing forced to backtrack and that others with more common sense (and better conceptual grasp of basic mathematics) will continue to hold them accountable, it is no wonder why you and your fellows are constantly losing ground in this debate.

30. The REAL gun runners?
Edited on Fri Jun-24-11 02:36 AM by Straw Man
The GOP will have to explain to the American people why it is protecting the REAL gun runners.

Which ones are they? The gun dealers who reported suspicious customers to the ATF? Or the suspicious customers whom the ATF allowed to scoot off over the border to commit murder with the guns the ATF let them buy?

It's like narcs selling real dope to dealers who will sell it to schoolkids. But you see, it's "an investigation." They're "after the kingpins."

3. Good news for weapons collectors
Through a great deal of wrangling and the FOIA I was able to get the Fast and Furious serial number lists that have been used to link the weapons taken from insurgents to Fast and Furious .

Since the list is comprised of thousands of gun transfers , I best not link it all .
Hopefully we can get one in some usable form that can be passed around
in the pole barn at the creek .

I'd rather that it got done, albeit by a legislator I don't like, than that it didn't get done at all.

The government has been caught red handed conspiring with a foreign government to scam the people into baning their own guns. I'd like to see some people hang for this.

ATF granted FFL(s) to individuals in Mexico? I don't see any exemption for or treaty with Mexico concerning ITAR.

Edited on Thu Jun-23-11 05:29 PM by Tejas
* (a) Nonautomatic and semi-automatic firearms to caliber .50
inclusive (12.7 mm).
* (b) Fully automatic firearms to .50 caliber inclusive (12.7 mm).

nonautomatic = bolt action?

29. nonautomatic:
I believe that would be anything requiring separate actions to chamber a round/energize the firing pin and to fire the chambered round.
This would include bolt action, pump action (such as the Remington 7600) and various other single shot type arms.

So I believe this would cover ALL firearms.
I am not certain if the black powder weapons are also covered or not.
Perhaps another poster is more familiar. :)
