New Bill Would Allow Concealed Carry At Day Care Centers, College Campuses
COLUMBUS, Ohio --
A final vote is expected as early as Wednesday on a bill that would allow concealed carry permit holders to carry their guns into bars and restaurants.

The bill was voted out of committee Tuesday, but another bill has been introduced that would allow gun owners to carry concealed weapons on college campuses, day care facilities and other places and would eliminate the concealed carry permit process altogether.

The pro-gun lobby argues that Ohio has more restrictions on concealed carry permit holders than most other states and that easing the restrictions to bring Ohio more in line with others simple makes good sense.

One more state getting in line with the rest of the country.

5. Even Walker balked at the notion of not needing a permit...
Personally, I think the inability for people to feel safe enough to go without a gun to college, daycare or restaurants is a very sad indictment of American society.

6. If you can explain how it is "idiotic", maybe.
But you're going to have to do better than an unsupported assertion.

18. Florida has had "shall issue" concealed carry since 1987 ...
so far only 168 people have had their concealed weapons permit revoked because of a crime that involved the use of a firearm after the license was issued. Many of those "crimes" were mistakenly carrying the firearm into a restricted area and did not involve shooting or threatening anyone with the firearm.

Ref: http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/stats/cw_monthly.html

Florida now has over 800,000 concealed carry permit holders
by John Lott on April 24th, 2011

Not only has Florida now issued over 1.95 million permits since October 1, 1987, but as of the March 31 of this year there were 801,219 active permit holders. Since January 1, 2008, only 4 permit holders have had their permits revoked for a firearms violation (“utilized” is very broad here, including such things as accidentally carrying a gun into a gun-free zone). That comes to an annual revocation rate of about 0.0002%. That is two ten-thousandths of one percent. How much smaller could that revocation rate be?

9. "It simple [sic] makes good sense"
:banghead:

I must be mad, because I am simply incapable of understanding why we need such permissive gun laws. I hope they arm the kiddies in Day Care too, because you never know when a day care worker might have had a bad day and just starts blowing people away. WTF?

12. why stop with that stupid comment, why not also claim they should arm dogs and cats
and parots, hell give the class pet hamster a 44 magnum. While we are making comments like 5 year olds, how about arm up some unborn fetuses and give guns to dead people. Let's arm the trees. duhhhhhh.

16. I see you're from Texas and obviously can't take a joke about
your precious gun rights. I would have thought your idioic retort was somewhat humorous, except for the fact that somewhere in the back of your small mind you are probably serious.

17. I hold all of my rights precious.
You clearly do not. And the only thing "idioic" around here is the comments by people such as yourself that thing society should base it's laws on the irrational fears of people such as yourself.

You ask why we need such permissive gun laws, I ask why we need such restrictive ones when they clearly are NOT solving the problem of violent crime.
