Detroit Police shoot elderly man when he answers the door holding a gun
DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit police shot an 86-year-old man in his home in what is being called an unfortunate accident.

When police arrived at the house they intended to arrest the homeowner’s grandson for assault with intent to murder. “The assault warrant was relative to shots fired against Detroit Police officers ironically,” said Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee.

Godbee says 86-year-old Charles Griggs came to the door with a gun and that’s when officers fired two or three shots.

Charlotte Phelps says her father is not suffering any life threatening injuries. “He was shot in the arm and the leg by the police officers.”

2. Thatz what those fuckers hoped when they busted my door down at midnite.
After I busted a crooked cop and judge. They lied thru their teeth. I wanted to bust them too, but my mom said that they had proven themselves crooked, what would stop them from further crooked intimidation.

Always ready to shoot first.I'm tired of occupying forces gallivanting around under the color of authority acting no better than the worst of any street gang.

4. It was clearly a mistake, not an accident
One shot can be an accidental (i.e. negligent) discharge. Two or three, no way.

5. "Shots fired ironically"?
Is this some kind of hipster thing? "Oh yes, I shot at some cops, but I was doing it ironically."

8. Trained police officers fired three times, and caused only moderate wounds
If the guy had been 25-years-old and armed with a gun or something sharp and pointy the cops could very easily have been injured or killed, despite the wounded status of the assailant. The cops could very easily have fired 10 rounds each and still not be safe from the guy, much less any friend following him out.

Which is why an arbitrary limit on magazine capacity isn't the brightest thing in the world.

10. That's why when I answer the door late at night ...
I have my hand on a S&W Model 642 snub nosed revolver which is in my pants pocket.

I have answered the door and found a police officer standing outside. I had fallen asleep when Bush the Junior decided to launch his war on Iraq. My daughter phoned me and knowing how much of a news buff that I am she was worried when I didn't answer the phone. She called the police and they checked on me.

I don't like scaring the crap out of someone who is innocently knocking on my door. Before I bought the snub nosed revolver I would answer the door with a .45 auto in my hand covered by a magazine or newspaper. I could then lay the .45 on a table under the newspaper and talk to the visitor or even allow them to enter. I never scared anyone using this technique.
