Bedroom safe that I really like and are using daily......

http://www.gunvault.com/handgun-safes/microvault.html

I can have it open, in the pitch black, in 10 seconds. The formed hand groves makes it easy to do in the dark.

I have it bolted (through holes in the case from the inside) with lag bolts to the floor of the bedroom closet.

Safe from kids and a has a key backup. Battery lasts 3 years of opening twice a day. My backup keys are not in the house.

Also comes with cable you can use in the car.

1. Mine uses a key, if you can't afford an expensive on, get a cheaper one
You can also put medications in it to keep them out of the hands of little ones. I put household chemicals in my main safe also.

3. Bolting it down
When you bolt it down, use an extra layer of fender washers. (Extra surface area.) That way anyone trying to lift it will have to work a lot harder than one put in w/factory screws. Nothing is perfectly theft proof but if they have to work at it it may fluster a thief into going on to the next job.

5. Good idea! Most of them don't want to spend too much time in the house.

4. I bought a 50 buck WM special
http://www.amazon.com/Winchester-Safes-ET180-eVault-Electronic/dp/B003EVK3U4

It's not a bad safe, you have key in the combo, and turn a key is the only problem. It also has a "emergency" key if the battery would die. (I keep those in my main gun safe)

I open my safe at night and put my Home Defense pistol on the night stand, every morning I put it up and pull out my CCW, so I don't mind the extra hassle of the key and keypad.

6. Leaving the keys out of the house is baaaad Ju Ju
Murphy's law dictates that the first time you actually need to get in there the batteries will fail

7. It has a low battery warning indicator and I open it twice a day....low chance. I worry....
more about some kid finding the keys.

8. These make great baby shower presents for families with handguns.
Baby proofing your house is one of the major chores of every new parent. A handgun safe can go a long way to helping little fingers not find little triggers.

I gave my friend a handgun safe for a baby shower present. He and his wife appreciated the sentiment and use it everyday. It holds a loaded G17.

I use an AMSEC PB48 (mechanical pushbutton) safe.

And I use this little combination box for my car.

9.  My safes weigh 650lb empty.
I have 4 of them in my gun room All bolted to the concrete floor with 4 each 3/4" concrete anchors 4" long.. When I go to bed the firearm on my side is on top of the night stand, in the morning I put it back on my side when I get dressed.

10. You're a heck of a guy keeping all those guns safe
except for the one you keep on your night stand. What if a sneaky cat burglar creeps in and shoots you?

11. I like it
and I like the fact your backup keys are kept out of the house. Very smart. If all gun owners had your sense of responsibility, we'd have a lot fewer problems.

15. I use a "Titan Gun Vault"
http://titangunvault.com/gun-safe/titan-gun-vault
The features I like is that it has a Simplex push-button combination lock, and that it's made of 14-gauge steel, versus the GunVaults' 16-gauge. Mind you, I bought mine three years ago (just before I bought my first handgun, in fact), when the Titan cost half of what it does now. Evidently, there's been sufficient demand for the product that the guy who operates the company felt confident enough to charge more.

In the event I have to leave my carry weapon in my car, I have a PacSafe mesh bag (pretty much this model: http://pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=18) which I picked up on closeout sale at the Beretta online store.

For everything else, I have an "Executive Vault EV-21" I picked up online at Costco. It's actually made by Cannon (http://www.cannonsafe.com/), but it's a "bare bones" model, lacking things like a built-in power outlet and a dehumidifier but otherwise equivalent to the safes Cannon sells under its own name (only $200 cheaper).
