CBS UPDATE on Project Gunrunner
From tonights CBS Nightly News

(CBS News) WASHINGTON - Federal agent John Dodson says what he was asked to do was beyond belief.

He was intentionally letting guns go to Mexico?

"Yes ma'am," Dodson told CBS News. "The agency was."

An Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms senior agent assigned to the Phoenix office in 2010, Dodson's job is to stop gun trafficking across the border. Instead, he says he was ordered to sit by and watch it happen.

Investigators call the tactic letting guns "walk." In this case, walking into the hands of criminals who would use them in Mexico and the United States.

3. Obviously on the NRA payroll

Who else could be so diabolical.

I bet CBS has hidden camera film of him meeting with Wayne LaPierre for a cash payoff at lunch, you know, one of the secret lunches where the NRA tells elected Representatives and Senators what they must do about getting those guns that "shoot through schools" sold.

4. I can't wait to hear what the Brady Campaign says about this
Many of them have insisted that guns only belon in the hands of military and law enforcement personnel. Let's see them explain this spectacular little kerfuffle that got one of our Border Patrol agents killed.

5. The GOP voted to prevent the ATF from monitoring multiple Mexican cartel gun sales in border states
This is nothing more than a GOP/NRA distraction from the real issue...

US gun shop/show sales to Mexican drug cartel gunrunners.

Edited on Thu Mar-03-11 10:47 PM by jpak
The GOP/NRA calls it ATF gunrunning - did those ATF agents profit from the the sales of those guns to criminals?

nope

Are we privy to the overall plan of this on-going investigation - including cooperation with Mexican authorities to track those guns in Mexico?

nope

Does the GOP/NRA luv them some Mexican Cartel straw gun buyers?

yup

"The government of Mexico asked the United States for details of the ATF under Project Gunrunner, Operation name “Fast and Furious“ implemented by the U.S. Department of Justice that allegedly allowed thousands of weapons into the Mexico.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) reported that Mexican authorities have proceeded with a request of detailed information on this matter to the American authorities, after the media of both countries made known such operation had been conducted by the (ATF).

“The government of Mexico is very interested in the investigations announced by both the ATF and the Department of Justice,” Mexico’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement."

None of the other drivel you are posting about the GOP/NRA means squat.

It's just more of your shtik, dismissing any data you don't agree with.

"Does the GOP/NRA luv them some Mexican Cartel straw gun buyers?"

11. "multiple Mexican cartel gun sales in border states"? Nice spin. Getting dizzy?
Try "all multiple gun sales in border states." That's what ATF wanted to flag. They're going to net a lot of innocent small fry in that fishing expedition. A lot of people whose only transgression is to live in a border state are going to get the J. Pinkerton Snoopington treatment big time. But what the heck, it's all about Homeland Security, right? In Mexico.

And then at the same time they're allowing guns to go across the border. ATF has a lot to explain here. I don't care what kind of investigation they were running. Saying they have to stop the flow of guns to save lives and then allowing the guns to flow anyway is the height of irresonsibility.
