I love that this guy was the lone hold-out to not vote in knee-jerk fashion for the Patriot Act like all the other cowardly Congresscritters did right after 9/11. Talk about having guts and principles.
In regards to gun control, I know Russ voted in favor of the 1994 "Assault Weapon" ban, but he largely redeemed himself in 2004 when he voted against renewing it, realizing it didn't do a damn thing to prevent crime and was largely just cosmetic. I know he's in favor of universal background checks at gun shows, but consider his votes on everything else:
Feingold’s Support for the Second Amendment as a United States Senator:
* Feingold is a cosponsor of S.3654, the Protecting Gun Owners in Bankruptcy Act of 2010.
* Feingold has praised the U.S. Supreme Court decision in McDonald v. Chicago, which confirmed that the Second Amendment applies to the states. (Press Release, 7/8/2010)
* Feingold voted to allow people to bring concealed weapons across state lines if they were legally allowed to carry the guns at home. (S. Amdt. 1618 to S. 1390, 7/22/2009)
* Feingold voted to allow citizens to carry loaded guns in national parks. (S. Amdt. 1067 to H.R. 627, 5/12/2009)
* Feingold co-signed an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court supporting the overturning of the Chicago handgun ban. (2009)

* Feingold lauded the U.S. Supreme Court decision overturning the D.C. handgun ban saying, “I am very pleased the Supreme Court finally recognized that the 2nd Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms. This is an important decision for millions of law-abiding gun owners. Public safety must be ensured without depriving our citizens of their constitutional rights.”(Press Release, 6/26/08)
* Feingold co-signed an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court supporting the overturning of the D.C. handgun ban. (2008)
* Feingold voted to prohibit the use of funds by international organizations, agencies, and entities that require the registration of, or taxes guns owned by citizens of the United States. (S. Amdt. 2774 to HR 2764, 9/6/2007)

* Feingold voted against the extension of the so-called assault weapons ban in 2004. While he initially voted for the ban in 1994, the ten-year trial period showed the law to be arbitrary, overbroad, and merely symbolic. (S. Amdt. 2637 to S. 1805, 3/2/04)
* In the fall of 2002, Feingold supported letting off-duty and retired police officers carry a gun outside their jurisdiction. (Judiciary Committee Vote on S.2480, 9/19/02)
* In 1998, Senator Feingold voted to prevent back-door gun licensing and to prevent the creation of a government master list of gun owners. (Vote 217, 7/21/1998)
* Feingold voted to stop a licensing fee increase for people who sell guns. (S. Amdt. 739 to H.R. 2403, 7/30/93)
Have you guys thought about joining his newly formed Progressives United PAC to combat corporate influence?
http://www.progressivesunited.org/(With all the turmoil in Wisconsin right now with the Republican governor trying to bust unions, its good to know a significant portion of Wisconsin voters keep electing a true progressive like Russ.)
