Neighbors’ feud escalates to threat of gunfire

CATSKILL — In a seemingly normal, quiet village community, the recent threat of gun violence against children has put a neighborhood on edge.

Last week, a Greene County Court decision has allowed a 63-year-old woman to keep a 9mm pistol that she told police she would use to kill a neighbor’s child.

Lauren Levey, a non-practicing attorney and real estate dealer, told police in a 911 call last year that she would open fire on juveniles because she felt threatened by them.

“I don’t wanna kill a kid anyway,” she told the police dispatcher, “but I will. I will. I’m not going to get beat up. I’m not going to let these thugs beat me up.”

They investigated and found that she was at least somewhat justified. Otherwise they would have pulled her permit.

However at this point it is such a she said - they said scenario that it is hard to who is driving the feud at this point. Video cameras would seem to be the best answer and I would be surprised if that has not already been tried.

What does it have to do with gun policy, or the use of firearms for self-defense?

6. Wow, the old woman is living a nightmare. Wasn't there an incident

similar to this a while back where the elderly person did actually shoot a teen and was not charged. The parents of those kids better get a handle on them.

In the gun-free Daley Dystopia of Chicago the woman was released from police custody without being charged, on the grounds that she acted in self defense. According to police, the boy who was shot, along with another boy, 13, are each cited in juvenile delinquency petitions with aggravated assault to a senior citizen.

If the parents won't stop it; they need to be held to account. If the parents can't stop it; the little bastards need to be put away.
