Making the NRA use their PostagePaid funds with my Survey answers
Edited on Thu Feb-03-11 12:49 PM by UTUSN
I don't see why they should object to a driver's license type of registration and a limit of NORMALITY on the number and power of the weapons.

Oh, even better, they ask respondents to forego the Postage Paid thing: "Your First Class stamp on the envelop will help NRA save funds for future battles!"

*********QUOTE*********

You have been specially selected to represent your fellow gun owners... ....

...(NRA survey) is designed to get the attenion of every newly elected Congressman, Senator, and state legislator, and put them on notice that we will not tolerate any more attacks on our Second Amendment freedoms. And, that we will FIGHT BACK and DEFEAT any POLITICIAN ... who tries to ban our guns and ammo or reduce by Federal mandate our use of firearms. ....

As an NRA member, we’ll provide you with what you need to know to use against politicians like Senators Charles Shumer and Diane Feinstein, Attorney General Eric Holder, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton... ....

(Their propaganda worded survey, the choices being Yes, No, and No Opinion, with only my answer: )

1. Do you agree that the Second Amendment to our United States Constitution guarantees your individual right to own a gun and that the Second Aendment is just s important as you other Constitutional rights?

(No Opinion)

2. Do you think the government should keep records of the numbe and types of guns you own in a permanent database?

(Yes)

3. Do you think the government should have the power to limit the nuber of guns you can purchase?

(Yes)

4. Do you agree with politicians in Washington, D.C. who say that all gun owners shopuld be licensed and forced to register their guns with the government?

(Yes)

5. The United Nations is seeking to impose a Global Gun Ban Treaty affecting you and other American citizens. Do you oppose any threaty that strips the U.S. of its sovereignty and harshly regulates the rifles, shotguns and pistols you own?

(Yes)

6. Do you support the passage of Federal and state laws that would hold gun owners criminally responsible if their gun is used in a crime, even if the gun is stolen?

(Yes)

7. Do you agree with White House officials such as President Obama’s “regulatory czar,” Cass Sunstein, who want to ban hunting on public lands?

(Yes)

8. Do you support passage of “Castle Doctrine” laws that protect your right to sef-defense from violent hoe invaders and other criminals?

(No Opinion)

9. Do you think the Federal government has done enough to police our borders and keep the brutal Mexican drug cartels and other foreign criinals out of the U.S.?

(Yes)

10. Do you agree that the erosion of our basic American liberties is one of the biggest political issues facing our country today?

(No)

11. Will you authorize NRA to use your survey answers to fight for your fundamental rights at the Federal level and in your state legislature?

(Yes)

12. Will you help fight for your freedom by joining NRA today?

(No)

34. Ok...
"I'm for the controls that are applied to other things, like driving and speed limits."

No license to drive required on ones own property, nor insurance nor registration.

No speed limits on ones own property, either.

Those things are only applicable off ones own private property.

Somehow, I think thats not what you meant.

44. There *are* such controls.
All guns capable of automatic fire, or that are easily converted to fire automatically, are a 10-year Federal felony to possess outside of military/police duty, without a BATFE Form 4. The number that have legally entered the U.S. civilian market since 1986 is *zero*.

All firearms over .50 caliber are subject to the same controls as 105mm howitzers, 500-lb bombs, and shoulder fired missiles. The only exceptions are shotguns (usually .73 caliber) and some .58 to .70 caliber hunting rifles.

All sound suppressed firearms are tightly controlled. So are all disguised firearms (cell phone guns, cane guns, and whatnot), guns undetectable by X-ray, short-barreled rifles and shotguns, M203-type grenade launchers, yadda yadda yadda. Armor-piercing ammunition for handguns and all rifles that matter was banned in 1986 and 1994, and is still banned.

The gun control debate is about ordinary civilian (NFA Title 1) weapons---guns under .51 caliber that are non-automatic, are not-sound-suppressed, and which meet the barrel length/overall length requirements of the National Firearms Act.

... what kind of documentation did the NRA supply that cost $20.

Was that the application for your concealed carry class that was rescheduled, cancelled, moved to Greece, or whatever this weeks story is, or was it your daughter's membership card that you had bronzed, a certificate verifying your 1873 Colt SAA, the paperwork proving you are Wayne LaPierre's illegitimate love child? You seem to have a consistency issue with NRA stories.

intended to yank the wingnuts' chains, no matter WHAT the supposed topic was. Perhaps I should have added emoticons to my "responses."

Although I realize the thread is now in the gun forum, I seldom leave GD, LBN, and Lounge, and really, my only interest is in being a Big Umbrella Democrat who kneejerks opposition and ridicule to any and all Wingnuts. My thread had next to nothing to do with the topic of "guns."

plus over-.50 shotguns and a few over-.50 hunting rifles, with ownership limited to mentally competent adults with clean records. That sums up what ordinary American citizens have owned for the past 50 to 100 years.

I strongly suspect that the guns you object to most strongly are those at the lower end of the power spectrum---centerfire .22's with modern styling, slow .30's, and 9mm pistols---which also happen to be some of the most popular civilian firearms in the United States, as if that mattered.

I think I'll keep mine, thanks. :hi:
