1. That's interesting.
I thought his shooting Lennon would have more to do with depriving the world of one of its most talented occupants.

10. Oh for Christ's sake...
...does this...

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/2767671/detail.html
"Police found a bloody knife, as well as Debra Lynn's purse, the contents spilled in the snow-covered front yard. The other murder weapon was never found. Police theorized the killer used a hammer to smash his victims' skulls."

...make all Colorado knife/hammer owners monsters?

3. His right...
to carry a gun did nothing of the sort, CO.

His right to carry a gun is unrelated to his misusing it.

4. Sheer Demagogy
Yes ban all guns.

Gay men will be unarmed to defend themselves against homophobic attackers.

Arabs and Muslims will be unable to protect themselves against rednecks who are trying to prove their patriotism by committing a hate crime.

Doctors who perform abortions will be unable to protect themselves from religious fundamentalist wackos who threaten to kill them.

Black people will be unable to protect themselves from angry white men.

Ordinary citizens will be unable to protect themselves against bad people who WILL still get and use guns.

And fianlly, there will be no civilian check on government tyranny and police brutality.

28. Amazing, isn't it...
"Gay men will be unarmed to defend themselves against homophobic attackers."
Wonder if he means folks like these?

"Reno, Nevada-- The National Rifle Association, holding its annual convention in this dry desert city, took an opportunity Sunday to demonize the gay and lesbian community with inflammatory homophobic rhetoric.
Anti-gun talk show host Rosie O'Donnell was called a "freak" by one speaker for her recent admission that she's a lesbian. O'Donnell had a much publicized disagreement with pro-gun actor Tom Selleck in 1999 on her talk show. Selleck walked off the show during taping over O'Donnell's remarks.
Debbie Schlussel, a frequent guest on The Howard Stern Show and an avid supporter of the NRA referred to O'Donnell when she said, "She's not cool. She's a freak." Schlussel went on to bash actor Jude Law who recently admitted in an interview that he hesitated to handle a gun in the filming of his latest movie fearing it would contribute to people thinking guns were cool. Schlussel referred to the heterosexual Law as a "girly-man".
Kelly Anne Conway, a conservative pollster, droned on for some time about how the "liberal" media has forced changes in the public school curriculum that put gay and lesbian tolerance ahead of the basic studies of math, English and History. "They're so worried now about how many mommies Heather has that (the teachers) run out of time" Conway went on to state venomously that gay and lesbian issues aren't important to "real" Americans.
Grover Norquist, an NRA Board Member and columnist for American Spectator Magazine, not to be outdone, put forth the barb; "we don't have annual parades for gun owners so everyone can appreciate that gun ownership is an alternative lifestyle and look at how great we are." He also quipped that liberal Americans "don't want (men) to date women." "

http://gaytoday.com/garchive/events/050102ev.htm

(Guess which of the figures named in that story landed on the "Pink Pistols" hate list? Here's a hint: it was the only gay person named.)

"Doctors who perform abortions will be unable to protect themselves"
Gee, all the shootin' has been the other way around. I don't recall any pistol packin' doc shooting anyone...or even publicly expressing a wish to do so. I do recall a poll put up here by gun "enthusiasts" that claimed America wanted women who had abortions tried for manslaughter...and that gun owners were itching to try them even more so than the general population.

Of course, that was just right wing horsecrap from a pinhead who used to do direct mail for the NRA.

"Black people will be unable to protect themselves from angry white men."
Jeepers, "angry white men" pretty much sums up the entire "gun rights" crowd.

Here’s the Texas KKK:
"The so-called gun control bill enacted by the government is nothing but anti-self defense laws designed to disarm law abiding citizens. The right to own guns as guaranteed by the 2nd amendment to the United States Constitution must be protected. Gun ownership is NOT a privilege, it’s a CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED RIGHT!!! The Texas Knights work to completely restore the right of all law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms."

http://www.texaskkk.com/platform.htm

Meanwhile, as you so accurately pointed out, black voters are overwhelmingly in favor of gun control.

9. I thought Chapman stole the gun from his father or grandfather?
IIRC he didn't really "own" the gun. I thought he took it with out permission. That's stealing where I came from.

Does anyone remember if indeed Chapman was a gun owner?

Buyers compete over album Lennon signed for killer

An online autograph dealer selling a John Lennon album signed for Mark Chapman just hours before he shot the former Beatle, is in talks with four buyers who are willing to meet the $US525,000 ($AU722,000) price tag.

"Two of the possible buyers are from the United States and two from abroad," Gary Zimet, president of Momentsintime.com has said.

The album, Double Fantasy, is being sold by the man who originally found it outside the Dakota apartment building near New York's Central Park.

Lennon was assassinated in 1980 outside the building where he lived with his wife Yoko Ono.

The record sleeve bears the signature of John Lennon and is dated 1980.

The cover and dust jacket contain forensically enhanced fingerprints of Chapman which were used as evidence in his trial.

Chapman got Lennon to sign the record at a concert, just five hours before shooting him dead.

"The response has been mind-boggling," Zimet said, adding that his website had received 85,000 hits since the sale was announced on Friday morning.

"It started as a straightforward, first-come first-served retail sale but, if these negotiations don't work out, it's possible I might switch to an auction process," he said.

20. How many laws did he break?
He certainly broke federal law by transferring the weapon from one state to another. He violated the Sullivan Law by possessing the pistol in NYC without a permit. Shooting John Lennon was technically illegal too.

34. Defending?....
on the contrary, we are the ones who are
saying that the individuals are to blame
for the crimes.

It's YOUR side that constantly says
"it's the guns fault" and shifts blame
for a crime to the NRA, gun dealers, manufacturers
and anyone else EXCEPT the person who
pulled the trigger.

Thanks for playing though ;)

for the last 23 years or so, where he belongs

justice was served, I would say he lost.

However, the attempt by you and CO-L
to lump Chapman with us law-abiding
gun ownwers is quite a leap of logic
and humorous indeed.

But hey....keep trying :)
