Ok, so something bad happens...
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/04/05/national/main2652024.shtml?source=mostpop_story, what are the odds that it will ever happen again? You still don't need to carry a gun.
So here I am at work 3 years later and for some reason, I cannot leave. The NJ State Police have asked me and all of my co-workers to stay inside and lock the doors. Again. Right now there is a SP helicopter circling our office and the general area, there are no less than 15 police vehicles in my immediate view. Not to mention dogs and lots of officers running around. You should see some of the hardware these guys are carrying. I bet some of the rifles I am looking at are full-auto.
http://www.nj.com/hunterdon-county-democrat/index.ssf/2010/07/police_search_for_armed_robber.html. Need has nothing to do with it. If you are able, willing to take on the responsibility, have the training and are able to get past all of the background checks you should be able to carry if you so choose. But, I live in PA (where I do have a License to Carry), but this is NJ. A may(never, ever, don't even count on it)-issue state. So, my firearm is tucked away in its safe at home and here I sit. Not wanting to run out and start shooting, but it might be nice for the walk to the car.
Good times... Good times...
