Concealed-carry gains momentum in Illinois--AMONG LAW ENFORCEMENT!
Are you packing heat? Concealed-carry gains momentum in Illinois
Local law enforcement leaders want legislature to change law

With 15 killings in six months, East St. Louis is on track to once again earn the label of one of the deadliest cities in the country.

But residents there, like all Illinois citizens, cannot legally walk around with a concealed pistol for protection.

...

St. Clair County Sheriff Mearl Justus, Madison County Sheriff Robert Hertz and Belleville Police Chief Bill Clay all said they would support a concealed-carry law for trained persons who could pass an extensive background check.

The issue of pushing the state legislature to adopt a concealed-carry law for qualified persons is gaining momentum in Southern Illinois and the metro-east, King said. On June 18, more than 250 people jammed the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall in Fairview Heights to hear speakers, including Justus, talk in favor of such a law.

The tide is turning! It's hard for Daley's lies to stand when only two states forbid concealed carry outright. No sane person can still maintain that CCW leads to blood in the streets and mayhem.

The key word is sane. No SANE person can make that claim. Don't expect that to stop Daley or his cronies.

3. K&Red you up to 2.
But it will never work. The blood of children, nuns and baby kittens will tsunami all the way to Utah. Remember... It's for the children. Shame on you.

5. I'll be overjoyed to explain that positon...
just as soon as you point out where I took it.

Just for fun, I'll give you a lower standard. If you can point out anywhere, where anyone on DU has taken that position (and it's not obviously a joke or a straw man argument like yours), I will explain.

I'm waiting...

7. Where did you come up with that idea? ...
Not everyone should have a gun.

None of the people here who favor RKBA ever said that.

15. People who want to have them and do not have a disqualifying condition
such as specified, adjudicated mental illnesses, conviction of certain felonies, etc.

There have also been laws about persons "scrupulous of bearing arms" since 1789, so it would be hard to say the framers expected everyone to be armed.

16. Read that off a bumper sticker I bet
Since you are a drive by poster in this forum it seems, there's no point in trying to engage you in any real discussion.

You seem to feel "superior" by posting an inane and condescending statement, then going away smug and self satisfied.

Good for you. <sarcasm>

12. Encouraging news...as last time around in the legislature it could be argued
that lack of support from groups like the NACP and sheriffs in many IL counties gave Gov. Blago and the rest of "King" Daley's lackeys enough of a fig-leaf to hide behind that they narrowly averted the override of Blago's veto of the Concealed Carry bill which had passed the legislature.

Perhaps IL is ready to begin doing something to remedy it's reputation of dirty, unseemly politics as usual...what better place to start than doing away with the rule of capricious and arbitrary permits of political convenience and association in favor of a democratic system in which the state must grant a permit to those who seek them and who meet a rigid set of clearly defined, objective standards?
