Daley of Chicago hopes for Supreme Court Crime - threatens reporter.
This guy is actually more of a sociopath than I thought he was.

Here's some commentary this morning from a mayor that has 24/7 armed security for himself, his family.

In the following article Daley makes a total Ass of himself three separate times. I'm starting to think he's a Psychopath as well as a dictator and I bet that at least one Chicago reporter agrees with me today.

First, he hopes that a member of SCOTUS gets robbed at gunpoint or shot, to change their mind about gun rights I guess.

Then he admits that, no matter what they decide, he'll find a way to block their decision.

Finally, he picks up a gun and threatens a reporter that asked him an obvious question about why his gun bans aren't working.

From the Chicago Tribune's Clout Street

Daley: City ready to act if Supreme Court overturns gun ban
Share

<snip>

It's defeatist to prepare new gun laws ahead of the court's ruling, which should come before the body recesses at the end of June, Daley said.

"You have to have confidence in the Supreme Court, Maybe they'll see the light of day," Daley said at a City Hall news conference. "Maybe one of them will have an incident and they'll change their mind over night, going to and from work."

The mayor said if the court overturns the Chicago ban, as expected, he'll quickly present new legislation to the City Council.

"Whatever the details of the court's ruling will be, we will always find new ways to keep guns off our streets," he said.

<snip>

During the news conference, Daley reacted with the help of a prop when a reporter suggested the city's handgun ban has been ineffective, given the number of shootings that still occur in Chicago.

"It's been very effective," Daley said, picking up a gun from the dozens displayed on a nearby table. "If I put this up your butt, you'll find out how effective it is. Let me put a round up your, you know."

<snip>

Preserving the handgun ban has been high on Daley's agenda during his two decades as mayor. For years, Daley also has pressed state lawmakers for tighter gun control laws, including an assault weapons ban,but has found only limited success in a state where gun owner rights are closely guarded downstate.

1. More of the same.
That statement where he threatens the reporter is absolutely disgusting. He has no place in public office.

3. The Chicago way........
(cue theme from the "Untouchables")

Walter Winchell narration:

.....as the 1928 Packard slowly travels down 1st Street Northeast, toward the Supreme Court building, Mayor Dick checks his Chicago typewriter, and tells the driver, "If you see that bald-headed Dago......."

5. He is quite the charmer
"""Asked whether Wortham's death provides a boost for the city’s battle for what Daley termed “common-sense gun laws,” the mayor said: “Oh, I hope so. I hope it does. Here’s a young man served twice in Iraq. Father’s a police officer, an unbelievable police officer. You better believe it. It does add , and it should. It should wake up America.”

If Wortham’s attackers couldn’t obtain guns, Daley said, Wortham’s shooting “never would have happened. Access to guns in America — everybody can have guns. It doesn’t matter who they are. It doesn’t matter if they have a criminal record or not. They have access to guns. That’s the most frustrating issue.” """

6. "If I put this up your butt, you'll find out how effective it is." How does that even make sense?
Aside from the threatening language, my problem with Daley's statement is that it doesn't make sense. "Let me show that the gun ban's been effective by committing a violent crime with this gun."

9. On reconsideration, I think I understand what he meant
What I think Daley was trying to get across was "the fact that you've never been shot is evidence that the handgun ban works." Which is, of course, a post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.

7. "we will always find new ways to keep guns off our streets," he said."...
An unbelievably idiotic statement from King Daley, considering that all his previous efforts have failed to keep guns out of the hands of the true threat, the gangs and the criminals.

He has successfully kept guns from honest citizens. That much I will give him, as well as the responsibility for all the tragedy that has resulted because the citizens of Chicago lacked the most effective means to self defense.

11. That type of defiance, defiance of the Constitution, of the Supreme Court, of the
American form of government, and of logic itself is a strong argument for strict scrutiny and even for special, remedial power in the hands of the federal government.

"No matter how you rule, we will stop the citizen of America from bearing arms in Chicago." It's almost a declaration of seccession. Why not formalize it?! Why not lead your men into battle, you Chicago thug?

Daley may have mental health issues, but unfortunately, he's not that brave.

8. This idiot...
reminds me of Willie "King" Herenton. He's just another corrupt/inept politician. Memphis is much better off now that King Willie is out of office. I bet Chicago's problems will improve once this loser is replaced.
