What are the South Carolina transport/ccw laws?
I've only carried in Georgia and will be going to South Carolina in the near future for an undetermined period of time. What are the transport laws? i.e. I'm going from home to the range.

What are the CCW laws?

Being a law-abiding kind of guy, I'd like to not break any laws.

Thanks in advance

1. Handgunlaw.us is currently the default resource
http://www.handgunlaw.us/
http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/southcarolina.pdf

The most important point is probably that South Carolina and Georgia don't have reciprocity, i.e. your GFL is not valid in South Carolina. Moreover, South Carolina does not honor non-resident permits, so even if you have a Florida non-resident permit, say, it will not be recognized in SC.

A loaded handgun can be carried in a closed glove box, console or trunk without a permit (provided you can legally possess the weapon in the first place).

Read the pdf; hopefully, that helps.

2. If you are maintaining residence in GA, you are screwed in SC

They do not honor GA's GFL, and they do not honor any non-resident permit from a state with whom they have reciprocity,

If you take up residence in SC, you have to do training as well as paperwork in order to concealed carry.

As a GA resident who lives on the GA-SC border I try to keep up on this. If you find out differently, then let me know, please.

3. I'm going to ask about it when I get there
But do plan on carrying it in my vehicle at the least. In Georgia I carry it in the truck tucked into the drivers side door panel (being left handed it works out better). In SC I'll keep it in the center console.
