Alabama SBR & SBS ban repeal passes
Alabama: Bill to Repeal Ban on Short Barreled Rifles and Shotguns Passes Senate, Heads to Governor’s Desk for Consideration!

On Wednesday, April 14, the State Senate unanimously passed House Bill 2 by a vote of 31-0. HB2 now heads to the desk of Governor Bob Riley (R) for his consideration.
Sponsored by State Representative Jeremy Oden (R-11), HB2 would repeal the section of the Alabama statute that prohibits the possession, sale, receipt, or use of short barreled rifles and shotguns. These firearms are already legal under federal law when properly registered.
A special thank you to State Senator Lowell Barron (D-8) for shepherding the passage of this important piece of legislation during the final days of the legislative session.

The Governor has signed this bill into law. This does NOT affect ANY Federal law on SBR(short barrel rifles= less than 16") or SBS(short barrell shotguns+less than 18" with overall lengh of 26") It simply changes Arizona law to make them legal to own.

Not my state, so no comment.

2. Cool.
The NFA needs to be amended to re-define SBR to less than 14 inches.

5. Why even bother to have a distinction?
It's simply another Mrs Gundy law that acoomplishes nothing but an unwarrented enlargement of government intrusion without purpose. Get rid of the restriction altogether.

10. I'm a bit of a realist.
We're going to have to eat this elephant one bite at a time. No way does the NFA get repealed no matter how much it stinks. Since the Army is using a 14.5 inch barrel now, that should be made available to the general public with no tax. Oh, and then we have the Hughes Amendment which is nothing less than a ban on the public owning the very firearm that is most useful for military service.

6. Because those who wish to restrict Civil Rights...
are generally moral cowards and they know there is no evidence to support their cause.

8. Yeah for Alabama.
Now if we could just get WA to follow along. I would love to have an HK-94 (semi-auto mp5) with the correct 12 inch barrel.
