What's with all the firearms thefts from LEO's?
Seem like a rash occuring or are the thefts just reported more nowadays? The buzz of the local gunshow was about a F/A AR stolen from an off-duty officer's private vehicle the night before. Then there's the report last week of an entire *arsenal (3rd burst M4 + 2 Glocks) taken from a cruiser in Austin, and then there's this idiot

(* sorry, couldn't resist, antis just have to see that word in print at least once weekly)

4. It was unlocked?
Holy cow.

You never EVER leave a firearm in a vehicle, if it's unguarded. Not like that. Wow. Even locked, all there is between your firearm and a criminal, is a thin piece of glass.

5. Even worse,
the one that happened locally right before the gunshow.....the F/A AR was in the officer's personal SUV. The vehicle was stolen from his driveway but recovered in a traffic stop within 24hrs, the machinegun nowhere to be found. Apparently the SUV had traded hands before the traffic stop, no info on the weapon has ever surfaced.

7. Only valid reason I can see is if they're SWAT
Maybe if called in the middle of the night, they can head straight to the assignment?
