Two trials to be held in murder of Arivaca girl and her father

There will be two trials in the murder of an Arivaca girl and her father. On May 30th, 2009, 9-year-old Brisenia Flores and her 29-year-old father were murdered after a group of people claiming to be police officers forced their way into the home. The girl's mother was also shot, but survived. Three people connected to border militias were arrested. Two of those people, Shawna Forde and Albert Gaxiola will be tried together next November. The trial for the third person, Jason Bush, will begin about a week later ...

the mother, Gina Gonzalez, though wounded three times, survived the shooting and returned fire, slightly wounding alleged gunman Bush and he and the others fled.

2. Some background on the perpetrators

Jason Bush has an extensive criminal record, including convictions in Kansas for burglary, assaalting a prison guard and attempted escape; in Washington for assaulting a fellow inmate in Chelan county jail and auto theft, and he has become a suspect through emerging DNA evidence in a fatal stabbing in Wenatchee in 1997. He has claimed to be a former member of the Special Forces, and to have performed six tours overseas; in actual fact, the armed services have no record of his ever having enlisted. He's also been associated with white supremacists in eastern Washington and northern Idaho.

Albert Gaxiola has multiple drugs convictions, and thus presumably provided the expertise for Shawna Forde's idea of funding her little white supremacist outfit by robbing drug dealers and selling the loot. Shawna Forde is your archetypal white trash-turned-white supremacist. Her son has multiple felony convictions, and we can see the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree. A little over a week after the Arivaca murders, Bush and another as yet unidentified white male burgled Forde's half-brother in Redding, CA, after robbing a man in Shasta Lake of $12K at gunpoint the day before.

In short, we're dealing with a real fun bunch, and we can be moderately certain they didn't own the weapons they used legally either. The murder of Brisenia Flores didn't happen because these people had too ready access to firearms; it's because they're sociopathic scum.

4. For the record...
