snohomish county has more sense than mayor nickels
note that these bans are ILLEGAL. there is not a single person who has been convicted under these statutes (i challenge you to find one), and thus they have not been challenged. until now (well actually last week). sno county realizes their ordinance violates state law and says they may change it. good for them. as for mayor nickels, who instituted seattle's ban AGAINST the advice of the state attorney general (and any lawyer with a brain), he should be forced to pay a portion of the lawsuit settlement seattle will lose.

EVERETT - The Snohomish County Council is considering allowing people to carry legally owned firearms in the county's 103 parks.

Council member John Koster tells The Herald of Everett that the change would bring the county in line with state law.

Some of those at Everett parks Wednesday afternoon, including Dale Johnson, think parks aren’t the places for guns.

"There are gun ranges for that," he said. "Guns don't belong in parks where there are families."

Park goer Kent Welcker doesn't own a gun, but was in favor of the measure.

"We have constitutional rights," he said. "Most of the people I've been around use guns responsibly."

The measure, due to go before a council committee next month, is in contrast with Seattle's move to ban guns in city parks. That city ban has been challenged in court by gun rights advocates.

1. Not by much
I mean, it seems to have escaped Snohomish County Council's notice that RCW 9.41.290 has been around in its current form for 15 years, and that they are therefore considering repealing a measure that legally ceased to exist in 1994.
