Police identify 20-year-old man killed during robbery try in Wilmington
One of two or three men trying to rob a Wilmington liquor store Tuesday night was shot and killed by a store clerk who exchanged fire with the bandits in the store, police said.

Late this afternoon police said they had identified the dead man as 20-year-old Kendel Miller of the 500 block of W. 39th Street in Wilmington.

Master Sgt. Steven Barnes said Miller, killed in the 9:30 p.m. gunfire at Favor's Liquor Store, 1020 N. Walnut St., was able to exit the store and stagger 40 feet along a sidewalk before collapsing. Paramedics treated him, and he was rushed to Christiana Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m.

A second holdup man fled on foot and police used a dog to try and track him in the area near the store along 10th and 11th streets. Barnes said there may have been a third robber.

Police said they found a .22-caliber handgun in the store dropped by one of the men attempting the robbery.

5. FMD is refering to the fact that...
Some people will unRec a post without having the moral courage to state their reason why. For the record, I agree with him.

2. Out of curiosity
Is it legal to carry a firearm in a liquor store in Delaware? It could be, for all I know, but I wasn't sure.

The reason I ask is that the clerk might face a penalty even if he was acting to defend himself.

3. No clue. I would guess it was private property though.

7. Didn't think of that, since they're state-owned here in PA.
When I lived in Texas in 92, though, I believe it was illegal for people to bring firearms into the store where I worked because it sold beer (and a really astonishingly bad wine).

6. Was the .22 dropped or thrown?
Long term damage, shoot the .22. Best odds of winning a gunfight with a .22: throw the whole damned pistol at your opponent and run like hell.

8. I'm quite accurate with my Browning Buckmark.
Five rounds in the head or heart in about 3 seconds would likely be fatal.

9. Yeah, but think of the thick skulled morans with no heart...
I'm a Buckmark fan as well.
