2 Teens Accused Of Bringing Guns To School
INDIANAPOLIS -- Two Indianapolis Public Schools high school students were arrested this week, accused of bringing guns to school.

On Thursday, an Arsenal Technical High School sophomore was found to be carrying a loaded handgun after he was searched by campus police, said IPS spokeswoman Mary Louise Bewley.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested and preliminarily charged with carrying a handgun without a license, possessing a firearm on school property and dangerous possession of a firearm for carrying a loaded handgun on IPS property.

"This arrest should send a message to students that carrying a handgun on campus is a one-way ticket to jail," said Principal Sarah Bogard. "We won't tolerate any activity that will put students, staff or visitors at risk."

5. In the 8th grade, I took a Remington 870 .12 ga. shotgun to school...
Instructed my classmates on the safe and proper handling, cleaning and take-down of the shotgun. The teacher thought it was a good idea, and the students were interested. I think "Sally Go Round the Roses" was popular 'bout then. Times have changed.

9. Took a JC Higgins 12 Ga. to High School once a week
In the Cook County suburbs, in the early '60s, we walked a few miles to school and in hunting season took our shotguns to school and, with the owners permission, hunted the cut over cornfields and hedgerows on the way home for pheasant and rabbit. Maybe once or twice a week in season.

You could walk by the admin office at school in October and November and see several shotguns leaning against the wall of the principal's office.

Today Daley would have SWAT teams and helicopters to surround us with full auto weapons.

Now I live in another County, further South, and about every year or two our local Sheriff gets a panic stricken call from someone that used to live in Chicago about a "man with a gun" in the field across from their new housing development. Just some farmer hunting his cut over field a quarter mile away, but the new resident can't grasp that the farmer is normal and they aren't.

7. Glad they caught him.
I don't think you'll find anyone here supporting a 16 year old carrying a pistol, let alone to school. Most states allow sub-21 year olds to compete in certain sports, but generally purchase and possession of pistols isn't possible, legally, by a 16 year old.

I hope they spit roast whoever gave or sold him the gun.

8. Another lame drive-by "current events" post that doesn't fit the purpose of the Guns forum.
