How is the handgun ammunition availability in
your area? I noticed rim-fire ammo started showing up a couple weeks ago. Now this week centerfire handgun ammunition has finally started to show up on the shelves. Apparently everyone has got enough ammo stocked up for Civil War II.

1. Plenty of ammo here in Massachusetts.

In fact, at Bass Pro Shop, they have two aisles full of just ammo in un-locked shelves.

2. Never had a problem

as far as I could see here. I wonder if the survivalists think they've stocked enough or if they just ran out of cash propping up the ammo manufacturers? Idiots all...

on edit: In central CT

3. Last time I was at the range (about a month ago) they had

some cases but you could only buy 250 rounds and the price was about what I paid for 1,000 rounds a year ago.

I can only hope that this situation is improving.

Edit to add S.F. bay area

4. Been none for last couple months.. Then two weeks ago Wally had some .22LR.
Last week they had centerfire pistol but not in 9mm (which is what I needed), tons of rifle and tons and tons of shotgun shells.

I haven't checked this week but it looks like supply is starting to balance demand.

5. Still hard to find
Walmart gets some but still sells out before 8:99 AM. You never know what caliber they will receive. Academy still has almost no pistol ammo. There is plenty of shot gun shells for bird season..

6. Some common calibers have been tough to find in NC
My local WallyWorld had 9mm (either Winchester white box or Blazer Brass) almost continuously from early May until middle of August. Other caliber were sparse - they've had .40SW for last month or so. Only one local shop had .380 and wanted almost $35 for a box of 50 rounds of FMJ. It never seemed like .223 was a problem as Dick's & Bass Pro always have FMJ on the shelves. I should have enough for CWII - just in case I think I'll go buy more.

7. At my Wall-Mart its still fairly sparse, but since WM instituted their 6 box limit

there has been a fairly constant small supply of 9mm and .40 on the shelves. Lately the 200 round boxes of Federal 5.56 has been on the shelf, too.

Of course the expensive places like Bass Pro has ammo.

8. The selection isn't fantastic, but most calibers are available
This is southern King County, WA (i.e. half an hour or so south of Seattle). My local gun shop has some ammo in most handgun calibers, but selection isn't brilliant as regards bullet weight and brands (e.g. for .40S&W, I like Speer Lawman and American Eagle in 165-gr, but there's only PMC or Blazer in 180-gr). 9x19mm is still in fairly short supply.

The ammunition rush more or less passed me by, because I had sufficient amount stockpiled for the limited amount of shooting I do anyway.

9. Mixed in DFW
There for a while there was nada to be found in rifle or pistol, even 22lr..

Then a trickle of 223 & 308 started showing back up, but no pistol. (UMC big boxes started showing back up at Gander Mt & Bass Pro, but not Dick's.) Then a little later, the federal bulk packs of 22's showed back up.

Now wally-world has a decent supply of pistol ammo (number of boxes) except no 9mm, 380, or 38. Nobody has 380 as far as I can tell.

14. 380 In Stock
Finally found some 380 auto in stock:
http://www.luckygunner.com/handgun/380-auto-ammo">380 Auto Ammo In Stock

It's a little high by historical standards, but everything they have (LuckyGunner.com that is) is in stock and they ship really fast. It's the biggest/best variety I have found to date.

I can't wait for this crazy ammo shortage to be over!

Anyone know much about Aguila ammo?

10. Walmart was moderately well stocked last time I was there.
.44, .45 ACP, 9mm, plus rifle stuff: 30-06, .308, and I think I even saw some .223 in and among other calibers I can't recall. Much better than previously.

I'm a little pissed though. I only have 200 rounds for my rifle, which I'm worried isn't going to be enough when the Glenn Beck purge parties come to get me.

12. New Mexico Ammo Availability
Hello,

Here in New Mexico (Artesia area), it's been very limited for all major calibers..... Although, in the past few weeks, WM has had it on the shelves, but be early as it goes fast!

I've actually stopped shooting for pleasure until supplies return...I keep stocked on all, so wasn't affected by the shortage (just luck!).

13. Walmart has some here.
Walmart is starting to have Whitebox Winchester available in 9mm and .45ACP, but only a few boxes on the shelves.

I could find no 500-round boxes of .22LR.
