Teen killed was ordered to stay out of trouble
A 17-year-old killed Thursday by a man he was trying to rob had been ordered to stay out of trouble in March after he pleaded guilty to taking a woman’s car on a joy ride.

Devin Ollie was supposed to participate in a substance abuse treatment program, stay in school or hold down a job and perform 20 hours of community service, according to a deferred prosecution agreement he signed March 23.

Less than a month later, Ollie tested positive for THC, according to a July 11 letter from a juvenile justice program that was monitoring him.

On Friday, the Milwaukee Police Department Sgt. Mark Stanmeyer identified Ollie as the teen killed early Thursday as he and a 19-year-old associate tried to rob a man in the 2600 block of N. 1st St.

The deceased teen shot his accomplice during the robbery attempt, according to police.

2. You may be right. They could all be drug dealers.

3. I could be wrong too
That's just my first reaction to reading that all three young men were on the street with guns.

7. I suspect that the robbery victim
was armed because Milwaukee has it's share of depression crime and he understands the danger robbery victims face...WI is one of only 2 states without a concealed carry law on the books..it's been close to passage....incidents like this one may bring about public pressure in favor of one.

It all happened early Thursday near 1st and Clarke. The 23-year-old man was walking his girlfriend home when two teenagers pulled out a gun and tried to rob them.

But the victim also had a gun. He shot and killed one suspect, 17-year-old Kevin Ollie. Ollie's gun also went off, and he accidentally shot the other teen robber before he died.

The robbery victim's family says he had no choice but to fight back.

The District Attorney's office agreed. Chief Deputy District Attorney Kent Lovern said the victim acted in self-defense and will not be charged with any crime.

8. Good news
Two thugs off the streets, two innocent people not murdered.

I'm glad they won't be charged with anything.

Oh but they were just kids out having some fun, while armed, and high on drugs, certainly they wouldn't have hurt anyone.
