1. History of gun control shows it has been used to keep
blacks from being able to own firearms.

5. NAACP and Robert F. Williams
FYI: I thought the book Radio Free Dixie covers their disagreement quite nicely.

4. Robert F. Williams
JFPO and CORE are fine, even coming from their conservative perspective. I'm particularly suspicious of today's CORE, but that's another matter.

So, while not bad, I'm more inclined towards the Robert F. Williams story.

I think both sides are complimentary though.

There's also an interesting book out there on Dr. Ossian Sweet that I'm trying to catch up with:

7.  I challenge those who favor more gun control...
to watch the videos in the original post, and to consider and comment.

The videos are excellent and present a valuable lesson in how those in control often oppress others.

8. Also
New York's Sullivan Law was also designed to keep guns out of the hands of mostly Eastern and Souther European immigrants.

10. I was just about to point that out myself.
Mostly Italians, being an "unsavory element," or at least that was how it was sold. Of course it was hardly used only for that--Sullivan was a famously corrupt politico who basically owned the police force. One of his political opponents, after being arrested three times for illegally carrying a firearm, ended up getting all the pockets on all his clothes sewn shut so that the police couldn't pretend they found a gun in his pocket.

9. I did a paper on this in college years ago. The Hearst press has been
screaming about violence committed by non-whites, immigrants and the poor in general as a sales building technique since the 19th century. They are partly responsible fot anti-gun legislation as well as for the increase in power of the guns used by the police.
Most US police officers carried small .32 caliber revolvers around the the early 20th century. Hearst papers ran series of articles on drug crazed minorities - black and oriental - attacking whites, especially women, and urged larger caliber more powerful weapons for police. The .38 Special revolver soon replaced the .32 revolver as the arm of cholice for police use.
The 1930's saw the development of the .357 Magnum revolver, which began to be used by some police patroling hiways and open spaces - it was considered too powerful to be much use in cities. Auto loading (semi-auto) pistols began to be accepted in the 70's - mostly the S&W Model 39 and later the higher capacity Model 59 series in 9mm. Later the .40 and .45 ACP cartridges were promoted over the 9mm - the 9 was stated to have too little power to overcome drugged criminals (familiar?), and the current mainstream police pistol is a Glock, Smith or Beretta in .40 caliber or 9mm holding 16 to 18 rounds.

A long way from a 5 shot .32 revolver.
The papers kept up campaigns to increase police firepower while also demanding the end of gun ownership for all ordinary people other than the rich and connected whites.
They are still doing it today.
