New Poll from WaPo. Nation getting "conservative" on guns

One issue in the survey where public opinion has drifted in the conservative direction is gun control, where Obama and other Democrats have studiously avoided pushing for major reforms. Fifty-one percent of respondents said they favored stricter gun laws, down 10 points from 2006.

This positioning of guns as a conservative issue always ticks me off. The way I see it, it should have been phrased as "gun rights is becoming more of a liberal issue"

1. As the reich-wing has become more violent, more libs are seeing that disarming in the face of a
real threat from the enemy is suicidal.

We will defend ourselves, even if "our" representatives in government will not do their job.

The pukes will be surprised to actually be resisted or confronted because they are, simply put, bullies.

2. That poll is biased by the form of the question asked which is a variation of one funded by the
Joyce Foundation's board of directors for propaganda to support it's ban-guns agenda.

See DU post for specifics http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=118&topic_id=160510#161144

Given the abysmal ignorance of so many DUers who don't know the difference between an "assault rifle" and "assault weapon" or nothing of current federal laws in 18 USC chapter 44 and 26 USC chapter 53, I seriously doubt most of them could give an informed answer to a question re "more gun-control laws".

I expect even more ignorance among the population sampled by the cited polls.

The pro-RKBA group has consistently demanded funding for and aggressive implementation of existing laws.

I support that goal and I also want sentences for using a firearm when committing a crime to be served consecutively and not concurrently with other sentences.

When prison sentences are served concurrently, that portion for using a firearm is ineffective.

3. Enough with paroling felons who commit violet crimes with firearms!
The pro-RKBA group has consistently demanded funding for and aggressive implementation of existing laws.

Anti's can't wait to waive bloody shirt when the Lovell Mixons of society inevitably get their hands on firearms and go on a killing spree. Yet there isn't a peep from them pondering WTF the Lovell Mixons are doing out on the streets in the first place.

Its easier to vilify law-abiding gun owners while offering the same soundbite solution tripe marched out every time someone who should be in prison goes on a massacre. They are willfully oblivious to the fact that the policies they advocate have been and continue to be discredited.

Frankly, its disgusting.
