1. He should have negotiated with those masked gentlemen in good
faith.

Violence is never the answer!

On a serious note, faking a heart attack was brilliant. All's fair when you're protecting your wife (or husband as the case may be).

2. He should have been merciful
and let those poor citizens go. All they wanted to do was pistol whip him a bit. He's only 70 years old. It wouldn't have hurt him to get roughed up a little. I'm sure his wife could stand a bit of a beating as well. What is the world coming to?

3. Stunning!
Another fantastic anecdote of self-defense.

I found this quote interesting:

"The only thing we can learn (is) that (this) can happen to any of us at any time and there is nothing you can do if you don't react quickly and have something to defend yourself with. I would be dead if I didn't."

The man also had excellent combat handgun skills. He shot the armed assailant, then shot his partner, turned and shot the armed assailant again, then turned and shot the partner again.

The he unloaded the weapon at the armed assailant as he stumbled out the door.

Turns out the armed robber was armed with a stolen Tec-9. Stolen from a police department.

This old man is one cool cucumber. I wonder what this guy did in the Navy?

9. I think so. The Brady Bunch likes to call people who are gun owners and/or pro-RKBA
things like that....because they can't see past stereotypes and tend to see things in black and white.

piece of right wing shit.

11. Well...
If you continuously possess a firearm in your household for the purpose of self-defense, a frequent contributor to this forum does believe you are either a racist, misogynist, right-winger, right wing dupe, or combination thereof. This poster does allow a few exceptions to this rule, but has not as of yet defined them.

Link is forthcoming when time permits a search.

Do you honestly believe...
Every single person who posesses a firearm for the purpose of self defense is either a racist/misogynist or a dupe? (The question as asked by me)

"You could try me on a few exceptions to the general rule, as I'm sure there would be a few. But otherwise, yup.

Dupe, generally. The racists and misogynists have other primary reasons."

24. That Depends...
If you possess a firearm for the purpose of self-defense, than yes, you have been called such.

But, then again, it really wasn't about you in the first place:

"Do you have a link to where someone called gun owners such names?"

Yep, and provided. You did not specify all or some.

26. Why the Quotation Marks...
Bracketing the word quotes?

"your "quotes" state "with a few exceptions" n/t"

Anyhoo, few meaning a small amount, the majority are considered racist/misogynist/RW dupes. A much, much larger number than those who might receive absolution. Are you claiming the highly prized exception status?

13. How sad
I don't have the viewer to watch, but it was preceded by one of those Brinks Home Security commercials where a house is broken into, alarms are going off, and the family dials the 800 number, talks to an attractive Brinks employee, and everyone's relieved. "Rapid Response and Peace of Mind 24 Hours a Day!"

15. My wife always laughs at how sad those commercials are.
Now I don't think there is anything wrong with an alarm (there are certainly cheaper and more secure alarms than those from Brinks) but the idea that the lady clutching the phone is suddenly "safe" because Brinks answered is funny in a pathetic kind of way.

Alarm simply is "to arms".
Middle English, from Old French alarme, from Old Italian allarme, from all'arme, to arms

To arms. An alarm without arms is kinda silly.

Good locks

Good alarm

Good training

Good firearm
+
Good laws (protection for the victim)
=Peace of Mind 24 Hours a Day.

16. Home security commercials
Yah, I find those commercials funny, too. In every case, the burglar runs away after the alarm goes off, and the helpful security agent calls and says, "We'll send someone right over!"

As I watch this I'm thinking, "But what if the intruder didn't run away?"

I guess it's at least some comfort to know that someone will be dropping by to clean up the mess.

I just got a new .45 auto. Almost bought a .40. Glad I didn't if two rounds didn't put the crook down.

23. .45ACP is 11mm across, .40S&W is 10mm across, 9mm is 9mm across....
Size of round has little to do with # of rounds required to stop the threat.

The differences between a so called "hand canon" .45ACP and a "pea shooter" .380ACP are tiny.
It would be like car guys arguing that a 330HP engine moves but that 329HP engine is going to get dusted.

People have died from single .22LR to the leg (tearing an artery) by bleeding out before the paramedics ever arrived.
Other people have survived multiple large caliber shots to the face.

Shoot to stop the threat.
Keep shooting until the threat has been stopped.

Caliber is actually a minor factor in terms of weapon's effectiveness and far behind reliability, shot placement, and weapon control.
